View Full Version : Who throws up their for a majority or their entire pregnancy?
I throw up my entire pregnancies. Both pregnancies now, I have copped it.
Last pregnancy, m/s started off at around 8 weeks, and I threw up pretty much everyday once in the morning, until after I gave birth (I threw up once in labour and once afterwards).
This pregnancy so far, m/s kicked off at about 6 weeks. The nausea has been worse this time, and I am throwing up at least twice every day, mainly in the first half of the day. Knowing my history, I highly doubt anything but giving birth will stop the sickness.
I am just wondering, if I am in a huge minority. Are there others out there that throw up everday for a majority if not all of their pregnancies? I'd love to be able to have a whinge to people who know what I am going through.
Cheers.
Oh oh oh pick me pick me lol. My MS started at around 4 weeks:eek::hissy: all my tests came back negative as it was even too early to tell but low and behold 2 weeks later I got my BFP. For the first 18 weeks I threw up alllll day and I mean alllll day and night, I would wake at 1am and be sick :( I lived off crackers, ginger beer, small bowls of home made vege soup (thanks Mum :)) and water, I'm not kidding.
At around 19 weeks it started getting better, I would wake up at 5am and from 5-10am I would throw up 2-4 times. This laster until about 32 weeks and then it settled to once a day. I would wake up go to the bathroom and be sick and then I was fine all day. This lasted until the end. I woke up in hospital to on my due date and vommited:o the nurses couldnt believe it. They thought I was that nervous about having my waters broken I was sick. I told them nope it was MS and they were shocked.
Hugs to you, I know what its like, its horrible!
Oh and whinge away :) I know exactly how you feel, so does my poor husband who was with me every step of the way... bless his cotton socks:p

Certainly whinge away, because you are not alone :)
I was feeling very sick all day for about 2 weeks before I found out I was pregnant & it never stopped until I had bub.
I would be forever spewing, it used to take me 20mins to get ready for work, that turned into 1 hour :( At 7 weeks I had to leave my 2 jobs, as I couldn't do any work as I was constantly spewing or near fainting. Both my jobs were in the hospitallity business, wasn't a great look serving people then having to rush off to spew (sometimes not making it & spewing infront of everyone)
About 6 months into my pregnancy I couldn't stand for more than 10mins or I would spew then faint. Oh the joys....
People think that I am silly, because even though I was sick for the whole pregnancy I loved every minute, because it was something that only DD & I shared, it was our journey :)
Lets just hope that the next pregnancy is abit easier & that I don't need to have complete bedrest.

:hugs::hugs: DD I had MS from about 6weeks up until 25, :barf:2-3times a day. Once i hit 25weeks, it was just once in the morning.
DS it was constant from just before 6weeks, I ended up in hospy to be rehydrated, and then was on Zofran for most of the pregnancy.
This time (twins) I have been in hospy to be rehydrated twice (i am 15weeks) and am on a higher dose of Zofran. I have lost 8kg, and finally put 2kg of it back on in the last few weeks. If I stop the zofran, the :barf: starts again, while I am on it, it's 1-2times a day (if I don't have to change any pooey nappies, i won't puke at all - lol). Both this time and with DS it was caled hyperemesis, not MS because of the severity, weight loss and rehydration required.
It is horrible, so vent away all you like. So many people don't understand, and say 'oh, i had MS too, you just have to get over it' Before i was on the medcation, it was like a hangover wth seasickness 24/7, i even woke in the night to :barf:. It's not the 'norm' as such, but there are plenty out there that suffer, so don't feel alone.

Hands up!!
I usually have Hypermesis and spent a lot of time in hospital with my first baby, after that I learnt how to look after myself enough to stay out of hospital. I vomited from the moment of conception right up to delivery and I would puke a min of 50 times a day if not more it was just constant and I was too scared to walk out my front door, I'd take a small bucket and towel in the car and be puking as I was driving.
This is my 5th pregnancy and its the first time I can actually say I only have normal ms and tend to vomit only up to 6 times a day but I also dont feel totally drained & have the migranes that I had with the hypermesis.
At least the medical profession generally beleive you know, when I was first pregnant 15yrs ago the doctor just laughed at me and sent me on my way and I ended up so sick I was barely concious and they actually said I was pretty close to dying when they first admitted me to hospital.

You poor ladies.... :hugs:
I don't suffer THAT badly...although I feel like it today....
But my mum vomited constantly when she was pregnant with me. I joke with her now though that I was worth it...;) but can't imagine going through 9mths of it.

Thanks, I think its like anything though. Someone who didnt have a day MS in their pregnancy might say to you I dont know how I could handle that. I think you just roll with what you've got :). My husband used to call me a hero, he said he was always a mess because there was nothing he could do. He said he's never seen someone walk away with a smile on their face after vomitting. THis might sound silly but I almost felt lucky. A lot of people I know said they didnt feel pregnant their first trimester, well I sure did lol. It was almost a comfort to know that my baby was in their alive and well.
Obviously by 9 months yeah I was pretty over it but hey like I said before having Aidan if someone told me that I would vomitt everyday for 9 months I would have said yeah right I couldnt deal with that. I barely drank because the very idea of feeling queezy put me off. Its amazing what we'd go through not just once either.

I vomit the whole way through my pregnancies too - it's good to know I'm not the only one!
with my first I kept thinking I was doing something wrong - like I must be causing it somehow eg with my diet etc
2nd time around I went with the flow better and got a lot less stressed about it - I also learnt to trust my instincts on what to eat and drink and what to avoid - even if those around me thought I was nuts!
and this time again (apart from a horror few weeks late in the first trimester) I've managed to keep fairly positive about it
I am lucky however in that my vomiting is mainly only in the morning so I can get mine out of the way for the day early on and then get on with my day and keep my food down which I'm sure makes me feel a lot better
big :hugs: to all the ladies going through this - those who have never experience m/s or who feel a little queasy for a few days really have no idea!

With both pregnancies now I have suffered with Hyperemesis.
First time I thought I had a bug that I couldnt shake to which I then found out I was actually pg ! I was sick from the moment I hit around 4wks ! Second time with G I was sick from the get go & again thought I had a virus ( ya think I would know by then LOL ! ) especially when all tests including a BT came back negative !!! I finally got the BFP which explained the sickness which was starting to worry everyone !
Although hilariously my mum thought I was putting it on when she would call when I was first pg. Saying most women had ms so I needed to get over it .... Then I managed to haul a$$ to her house one day ... She was horrified & never said a thing after that LOL !
With Boof I refused to be hospitalised even after losing 20kgs & rarely even keeping a glass of water down .... I lived in our bathroom & even had cushions & a blanket in there because there were days I rarely left the room ! It never relented not even though labour which saw me spewing every 10mins or so !!! Everyone was freaking out by this stage whereas I was like " THIS IS NORMAL PEOPLES !!!! ". I loved that 3hrs after giving birth I could finally brush my teeth without spewing & even walk more than a metre without spewing !!!!
With G I ended up in hospital a few times because having a toddler made things a hell of a lot harder ! Poor Boof got so used to me throwing up that he used to copy me even carrying around his own little bucket to be sick in ! He also got used to grabbing my bucket if I had forgotten to carry it with me !
I have to admit being pg with G wasnt as bad because I only lost 10kgs & a lot of the severe sickness stopped around 7mths but I could still spew daily or at least feel violently ill iykwim.
I have pretty much spewed everywhere & anywhere lol ! Trains, buses, streets, shops, airpirts, carparks etc etc etc its super embarassing but at least once you have a belly people can be more sympathetic ! I just got used to not being able to go to certain areas of shopping centres because smells would set me off as well as carrying a bucket around everywhere !
My family were so used to it they also made sure they had 'requirements' LMAO. Every car had a bucket, bottle of water, towels, wipes etc. Plus they just got used to me throwing up all the time that it was 'normal' for everyone to be in the lounge talking with me spewing into a bucket !!!!! Quite sad really !
So yeah I dont enjoy pregnancy at all & it certainly doesnt agree with me ....
Ive been told more than likely it will be just as bad next pregnancy .... Oh yay
This is certainly one huge factor in having more kids !

Hi,
I too had hyperemesis and spent a week in hospital early on being rehydrated as I couldn't manage to keep even a sip of water down. My Dr gave me Zofran which I took throughout the whole pregnancy. It didn't stop all the vomiting but kept it at bay. Without it I felt sick 24/7. And like other people have been told to expect the same or worse next time.
Good luck. Thinking of you.

Me too :barf:
i was sick nonstop throughout both pregnancies. its actually why we're putting off having a 3rd because someone needs to look after me, let alone the other 2....
:hugs: to you, and my advice is to try drugs, they're what saved me from being in hospital constantly!

I know how u feel. I started being sick at about 6 weeks. It didnt give up until the end. To start with it was only once or twice a morning but in the end from about 25wks it could be up to 8 r 9 times before it was even lunch time. While i was giving birth i was sick about 9 times, they ended up putting me on a drip n i was even spewing that back up. BUT as soon as he was out i was fine, i hadnt felt so good in 9 mths :)

Sending lots of hugs to all the ladies in this thread. I'm almost 19 weeks now and the MS is still going strong. I now have a shower chair in the bathroom so that I can shower myself and hubby has had to go part time at work plus use up all his leave so that he can help look after me and our 3 yr old.

All day... Every day...
The thought of having another baby, lovely.
The thought of enduring another pregnancy? Hell.
I have nightmares about it all the time.
I also had a list of other 'side effects' if you will and while none were serious, all were full on and awful.
As for whinging?I cant believe my DP didnt walk out on me!
The thing is that no one can understand what you mean by sick unless they've been through it in the same way.
Someone once told me she started getting sick but she stopped it because its mind over matter and that she had a wonderful pregnancy... Yep. Felt like punching her.
I'v met a handfull of women that had the same but only a handfull...
I had hyperemesis quite bad with DD1. Threw up every day from 6 weeks until she was born, including throughout labour! I was taking Maxalon every day, IV rehydration and IV zofran every other week and I lost 11 kgs (the only plus side).
Much easier with DD2. Threw up daily from 6 weeks until 16 weeks. Then things settled down a lot. Still couldn't brush my back teeth though! I actually found it worse second time round in a way because I had to look after a toddler too.
It is sooooo horrible and I hope #3 will be better again....I can live in hope:fingerscrossed:. Good luck to everyone:hugs:
