I suffered from this with my last 2 pregnancies and after the last one it didn't go away completely. 2 years later I still had it but it was OK. I am now only 16 weeks pregnant and suffering a moderate amount of pain already.

My son is 8 months old and I swear that my SPD has just come back.

Last week I had a really, really bad day and was in absolute agony but the next day i was fine.

It comes and goes.

DH said the next time I have a really bad episode he's going to take me to the doctors although I'm not sure if there is much they can do??

I had it badly in my pregnancy and I still suffer from the consequences now, nearly 2 years later. Mostly I had trouble with weak pelvic ligaments at the back (on each side) and as such I had trouble with stairs, inclines (hills were a shocker) and sometimes getting in and out of bed/chairs. It improved greatly by about 9 months after my pregnancy, but I wasn't back to normal. I finally saw a physio 6 months ago and found out why ... my muscles are all wasted away because I didn't use them for so long. So, all the muscles around my pelvis (mostly by butt muscles) are almost useless. The exercises are slow going (mostly cause I forget ! :D), but I suggest you go and see a physio and get those underused muscles working again!

oh thanks for this thread! I thought I was the only one! my mum teases me for walking like an old lady sometimes

I thought it was crazy to have it still (and to be kind of getting worse!)

It can be quite common to get the pain after pregnancy, and to have it come and go. Its usually indicative that something's not sitting quite right, so I'd be seeking the services of a chiro who specialises in pregnancy, osteopath or physiotherapist who specialises in women's health, and take it from there. Its not pleasant, but can be managed so as to cause you the minimal amount of pain possible.
