I have had success with cc with my son. We did it when he was 6mths old and it worked after 2 nights with not too much time to settle about 1/2 hr the one time he woke each night. We took the advice of our pead and just let him cry it out we didn't go in and comfort just covered him back up after we were sure he was down for the count.

He is now a bit over 11mths and at about 10mths had some disrupted nights with his first teeth and a cold so we got a bit slack and he has ended up snuggling in bed with us for a bit over a month now.

While it is lovely:yes: it isn't ideal for our sleep and relationship in the long run. I go back to work at the end of June and want to try to get him sleeping well in his own cot before that.

I am about to give cc a go again but now that he can stand up on his own in the cot I am not sure what to do. Should I go in and lay him back down every couple of mins or just let him cry it out. He isn't real good at getting back down from standing so at some point he will get distressed about that anyway.

So ladies what have you done? what would you do?

help:confused:

Thanks tyler's mum,
I have been doing that but he seems to wake more and more often as he knows he will get the cuddles (or boob if I am really desperate) if he carries on. I need to get him back to the self settling thing for the middle of the night sleep pattern disturbances.
Thanks for your good wishes, your bub looks just gorgeous by the way.

I personally (and this is only from babysitting experience.. as my DS is only 6 months old) - would go in every few minutes and lie him down (with minimal fuss) - eventually :fingerscrossed: he will learn that standing up makes no difference.. and doesn't get him out of the bed ..

good luck :hugs:

My little girl had a shocker of a time when she learnt to stand because she could get up but not down  We went in every few minutes to lie her down but she'd spring back up again so I'm not sure if it exactly worked  Now she's older she will lie down if we tell her to so it's alot easier. I guess you'll just have to do what you think will work best for him - good luck!

Yep that is our little ones problem lots of standing not much sitting down yet unless it is unplanned :o .

Thanks everyone for your advice, will continue to give it a go, feel so mean now it has gotten colder, but have warmed his room so it is warmer than ours so hopefully it will help him stay snug.
