Ok well you haven't said if you're BFing or FFing, but my little girl used to have really bad Colic so I know what you mean.

Hold Bubba over your shoulder with your breast in his tummy, use one hand to circle pat his back starting from the bottom and working your way up, then the other hand to raise his legs into his tummy.

You can also try the "football" hold, lay him across your left arm, so he's along it, and pat his bottom.

Up over the shoulder with firm pats to the bottom, plus circular motions up the back should help too.

My little man sometimes ends up with bad wind - especially at the end of the day! I use the Brauer Colic relief and within moments he is better!
But if you can try to avoid it it's best - so lots of burping after/during feeds. Over the shoulder is a good one or even just balance him on your lap, with his back straight and rub his lower back. I think the theory is that you want to straighten the spine out and apply a little pressure in the lower back.

Good luck!

My DD used to get some wind pain too...

I was told to lie her on her back and do bicycle legs. Also rubbing her tummy in a clockwise direction helped. (Don't rub anti-clockwise, not sure if it's a wives tale, but they say it makes it worse)

Infacol (sp?) can help too... although I found it made it worse.

Good luck :)

I believe the intestines go clockwise which is why you should rub in this direction.

:hugs: hi jen - a nice deep water bath so he can kick it out could help? followed by baby massage around the belly button area with lotion or baby oil and then the bicycle legs.

also my boys pass wind alot easier when they have nappy free time - just pop a face washer over his squerter and a towel under to catch any mishaps.

oh and when we were in hospital they gave a tea spoon of boiled water to help push it through - that was almost instant relief

Good luck and hugs colic sux x x

Ohhh poor lil mite!

I agree with the clockwise massage and the cycling legs - lovely to have some babygazing time while doing this. Posture feeding might help as well - so try to have bub sitting more upright when feeding. Its a bit tricky to position them to begin with - but if you basically position bub with his tummy against your tummy and then boob in mouth then that could help.

Keeping bub upright more frequently is a must - so for at least 20 mins after a feed keep bub upright, and if you have a sling/carrier then use an upright position. A Hugabub sling is the best for this!
