:flowerz: Malik our beautiful 16 month old has FINALLY started sleeping all night (usually :p) however wakes at 6am (sometimes earlier), but wakes crying, screaming and won't go back to sleep. He is not ready to wake then but won't be resettled. He goes down between 6.30 & 7 in the evening and has 2 sleeps during the day, each at about 1.5 hours. If he was waking happy and playing in his cot then I would get him up, but hes waking very tired and whingy.

This morning after he woke screaming at 5.45 (waaaaay to early), I ended up giving him a little bottle (against our routine completely), changed his nappy and put him back to bed. He wasnt impressed for about 5 mins, then went back to sleep until 7.30!

So I am wondering, should I start introducing a little bottle when he wakes at that time? I just don't want him to get into the habit of waking in the night and wanting a bottle to go back to sleep.

Suggestions and advice would be appreciated. Ta x

I think he is waking early because he is getting too much day sleep. My dd only has 1 day sleep, that is about 1.5-2 hours long, goes to bed at 7pm and most mornings doesn't wake til 6.30-7am but nevevr any later.

He just really needs his day sleeps, he's asleep within 5 mins of putting him down! Some babes his age are now doing the one sleep and handling it fine but just don't think he is ready. If he could wake at maybe 7 then I could stretch up for 1 sleep, but at the moment he NEEDS to go down 2 hours after he wakes up.

My DS2 was doing the same thing. I spoke to my Dr who suggested that we put him down between 7.30pm - 8.00pm (he was going to be at 7). This helped a little, however CC ended up working for me and DS sleeps until 8am now.

I have tried CC with him but he gets distressed very easily, he needs a more watered down version :o. Have tried putting him to bed later and he still wakes the same time. Might have to try just going in and laying him back down (over and over) until he learns its not wake up time.

some babies just naturally wake up earlier. You might not be able to change it unfortunatly. But good luck I hope you can.

He's getting 12 hrs a night, I would just get him up for the day, sorry to be a wet blanket :o

Introducing a bottle back into the routine might have him waking up again in the middle of the night looking for one IYKWIM?

DS1 was up for the day at 5am at his age and woke at least twice a night as well.
