Hi everyone. I posted some weeks ago as bub was a bit refluxy...mangaged it and managed it and then one week he just got really bad until last thurs he screamed all day. Put him on the thickened formula which helped but not totally (still kept waking with pain) so went to the docs ready for a fight (expecting that it's hard to diag. reflux and therefore no meds) and the doc said....sounds like your boy needs zantac.
Relief! bought it yesterday and he's had three doses...still not 100% but my happy sleepy boy has returned.
He's now nearly 12 weeks which astounded me as they're 'supposed' to get better at this stage not worse. He also has silent reflux....no vomiting but clearly in pain and oh the wind!
Anyway, just wanted to share my story as all of your posts helped me to manage DS. :smiliedance:

Hi Danielle - I am in the exact same situation so good luck to you! :fingerscrossed:
I hope it works. Unfortunately Kade had a bit of a 'honeymoon' period on Zantac, and then returned to the screaming but from what I understand this is rare and Zantac quite often results in 'new babies'!! Look forward to hearing how you go.
I am extremely depressed as DS has not stopped vomitting since last night.
He has reflux (but then again so did DD until she was 8 months) and today alone I have been through 3 sets of tracksuits for myself and 4 sets of jumpsuits for him. :gloomy:
What exactly is the Zantac supposed to do? He doesn't appear to be in any pain. Is this to cut down the vomitting or the heartburn associated with it. I don't think he has heartburn. He vomits, has a laugh and keeps vomitting with a big grin on his face. Shame I can't see the amusement!
I am at my wits end now.

How frustrating! Is bub in pain (drawing knees up to chest) or just cheerfully creating washing?
No.. no sign of pain whatsoever.
He literally laughs through it.
It's driving me crazy. Not that he isn' in pain of course... but that he IS constantly vomitting.
I thought having drawn the short straw with DD, I had paid my dues on the reflux front. :(
I had expressed for 5.5 months with DD so i could add thickener. But DS is better at bf than DD was and he hates bottles. He started later than his sister too.. but catching up quickly.
If I were our washing machine and dryer, I'd leave this house! Over worked!!
Them AND me.

:hugs: Is bubs on solids? Because that can help. You can also buy the Karicare thickener and mix it with water and feed with spoon or use it to thicken other foods/liquids also.
:o I'm sure you know all this already having another bub with reflux.
The zantac is essentially an antacid like Mylanta only better....so if bubs is not in pain then I don't know that it would be of any help.
What does the GP say?
We're planning to start solids this week.
Since DD has an anaphylactic allergy, we were told to hold off introducing solids to DS until 6 months.
I've been giving him bm alone so far. Hopefully the cereal will help settle things because constantly changing his clothes, my clothes and running around with wipes cleaning various surfaces has become unbearable now.
Strange thing is DD never knew when to stop when she was having a feed. But DS isnt like that. Once he has had enough, he comes off and you couldn't pry his lips apart to give him another drop if you tried. So the over-feeding reason went out a while ago.
We shall see on Monday how his weight and development is going. He is no small baby, so i am not concerned that he isn't getting enough. It's the inconvenience really.
Our usual GP has left and the new one looks like he could do with a GP himself! Back hunting for another decent Dr. I hate that! The other one was fantastic and thorough and DD was very comfortable with her. :(
:fingerscrossed: for the solids.
and thanks for the shoulder! :o

:banghead: Arrgghh I know about the gp thing. My GP left as I fell preg with first child. I felt totally abandoned!
Fingers crossed that the solids will help.
My younger brother sounds like your DS. The enduring memory of my 8th year is mum looking for a clean bra as James chucked on her for the nth time in the day.
It didn't last long and he has no ongoing problems at all.
:fingerscrossed: Let us know if the solids do the trick.
