 Can I get your opinions about ovulation pain that I get. I know that some of us get the pain on the right side and some the left. What does that pain mean? You are about to ovulate, you all ready have or you are going to? A pharmacist said to me that pain you get is after you've missed fertlisation, she said it's too late for that month? I must say I don't get the pain everymonth, but I particularly noticed it on Sunday, which was Day 11, it seems as though I ovulated on Day 9, so my OPK said.
Sooo many questions I have.
Thanks

Hi Lissylou,
Good question, this is a bit of a mystery to me too. I have been told that the pain is usually from the follicle bursting - ie the moment of ovulation. I guess this would support you feeling it on day 11 when you had already ovulated.
In my experience, I seem to get it for a day or two before ovulation - my theory is that it is the follicle getting very big and putting pressure on the ovary and tubes, or even the bowel.
I seem to get it worse every second month, and my theory (which is completely unsubstantiated and unsupported by any medical knowledge whatsoever) is that these months I am O'ing on my right side, which has been shown through a laparoscopy to be damaged by infection. I reckon when the follicle grows on my right side, it is putting pressure on my swollen and damaged right fallopian tube which hurts. That is pure uneducated speculation on my part!
Don't know if I've answered your question or just added to the confusion... :)

In Dr. Shettles book there is something about ovulation pain being felt mostly on the right hand side.. not sure why this is, but i normally only feel it on my right side too.

Hey Little Toad and Shelle65, just wanted to say goodluck with ttc#1. You should be asking me your questions since I've done it before. Number 1 or 4, there is still so much to find out. Thanks:yes:
Hello
I started to get this mid cyle pain after coming off the pill in Jan. Never having had it before and worried I was 'not normal' I googled it. This was the best overall info I found.

I think the short story is no one really knows what even the pain symbolises, there's just a bunch of theories. Made me feel more normal though.
I also get it on my right side, i experienced the pain on Saturday night, however i did OPK's thursday, friday, sunday & monday and ALL were negative. According to my previous cycles i wasnt meant to O until today. So i suppose i also dont answer your question as to weather its too late or not. But i sure am wondering the same thing myself
