Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone out there from Western Suburbs (going PUBLIC, not private) has made and used a Birth Plan before? If so, which hospital did you use it at and were the staff respectful of your wishes...no matter how obscure they might have been?

When I had DS, I felt like all the decisions were made for me (or else I felt helpless and just agreed with whatever was recommended) and I didn't realise I actually could have my say. So this time around I want to be more proactive, yet unsure if my hospital will just laugh in my face when I present them with my birth plan. Of course I plan to ask at my next appointment if they encourage birth plans or not, but just wanted to see what everyone out there thinks about it.

we had one for DS' birth at Campbelltown hospital. We never mentionned it at antenatal visits, just took in a bunch of copies when I went in. We were blessed to have 2 very supportive midwives who worked really hard to ensure most of our requests were met. And when our attempted VBAC turned into a repeat c/s, we ended up having the most positive c/s in that hospital's history, I was able to have skin to skin contact straight away, breastfeed in recovery and cosleep the first night (amongst other things) which was a huge contrast to DD's C/S and a very healing experience for me:yes:
