Hi I am due in january and have booked into the Toowoomba Base hospital. I am leaning towards the services of a doula or a midwife for support during the birth and for continuity of care, as opposed to a private ob. I think that this style would suit DH and I because it correlates with our beliefs and life style.
If you could recommend someone, or an agency and post their email I would appreciate it greatly.
Thanks,
Carla
First of all - congratulations on your pregnancy!
Have you looked at the links on the bubhub main pages - Qld doulas (http://www.bubhub.com.au/servicesdoula.shtml#qld) as there are two listed for Toowoomba on that list. It also provides some information on the difference between a doula and a midwife - a doula is a non-medical support person while a midwife will be actively involved in the delivery of your child.
Good luck with your search and your pregnancy!
Hi Carls888,
There's a set-up in Toowoomba called Indigo Place and I believe they have midwives, doulas, homeopaths etc etc and access to all sorts of wonderful pregnancy/birth stuff.

Hi ... I had a baby in Toowoomba in 2004 and used a private Midwife and Doula, email me if you have found on yet.
I know heaps of doulas and four m/w around Toowoomba. Do you still need a recommendation? If you want to ask about someone in particular then PM me and I'll elaborate in private.
