Hi, I have a very very picky 2 year old lil girl, she doesn't like tomato or tomato flavour foods, she wont eat veggies, and if she knows there are vegies in it she wont eat it.. evry now and again she tries veggies off my plate, but spits it back out saying yucky... (when she was 1 her father kept telling her repeatidly that they are yucky, and it seems to have stuck no matter what i do).

She love sausages and other meats (except for chicken) and chips and vegimite sandwiches...

I have managed to get her to eat veggies on a few occassions, but not without ALOT of bribing and yelling and screaming...

Any ideas??? I dont know how to hide veggies in her food, i live wiht FIL, BIL, SIL and my partner (her step father), and they all eat different things which when she hears them saying yuck or they dont like something, she doesnt want it anymore.

Her natural aunty and father dont eat veggies, they havent since they were both about 2 or 3 years old, their mother let them decide... so, i feel like i'm fighting a losing battle, i love veggies, i would eat them every night if i was allowed to cook everynight...

firstly will she eat fruit?
Aby gose through not eating her veg stages and i dont stress as she will happily munch on several diffrent fruits a day
as for the whole veg thing start with the swaeter tasting ones like pumpkin and carrots , Aby loves pumpkin baked with a little honey on it or tey cooking them in cheese sauce
also buy a grater! i grate carrots zuccini sweet potato well basicly any thing i can grate and will make burgers or put the grated veg in to risoles
ive found if they cant see it they dont seem to care!

Meatballs?

try to get her to help you and let her watch what goes into the food, ask her to fetch things and put them away and occasionally to stir and measure or pour.. Just general helping things like that, I have found that when my kids even WATCH the preparation of food they are more likely to eat it.

hey, na she doesnt eat carrot, she doesnt like it... if she sees any veggies in it she refuses to eat.. tis so frustrating.

the main frust she likes is apples and grapes, today she wouldnt eat anything but water icy poles and grapes and toast this mornign for brekky coz its so hot..

I might try mince patties with veggies in it. i cant let her see any veggies in it though, coz i've tried that and she wont eat. i might even try sweet potato chipps...

Really?
At only two?

Maybe you should go to an extreme for a while and eat only veggies. She will get a taste for them and will eat them.

Are you offering or letting her have something else if she doesn't like what you are offering?

yea, its pretty frustrating at only 2 doing this.. but, shes had her father telling her they are yucky because he wanted to get back at me, al of his side of the family are pretty bad with their eating habbits... like i said his mum let him and his little sister chose whether or not they wanted to eat veggies at age 2 or 3... :hair:

i've tried the only eat veggies thing, she goes without anything, for the better part of week, then she goes to her father nearly all weekend and eats like a horse then doesnt eat again anything but her breakfast (wheetbix) until she sees her dad again. i'm scared she will be unhealthy and it is setting bad examples for her life..

I live with my partners dad, bro n sister, so its hard doing the only eat veggies thing, they wotn do it, i'm just now trying to get them to eat healthy, they always buy coke, chips ice cream and **** for the house.. and give her little things like that when my back is turned... ive told them all no that many times it is becoming repetitiive.. they jsut dont listen!!:hair::hair::hair:

Woah.. Ex issues.

Unfortunately I can't help there. :(

But the rest of your family.. Get mad. Get openly mad. If they're disrespecting your request as a parent, they should expect that you react.
Try out fruit and veg that she is more likely to enjoy. Fresh beetroot, Tinned Peaches (in juice, not syrup), grapes, strawberries... The more fun stuff.
Frozen mango on its own makes a FANTASTIC sorbet as do frozen bananas.

Thread them on a stick as 'fruit kebabs'.

Tomato and bacon and onion stewed down makes a YUMMY toastie filling or pasta sauce.

It sucks, but if you can get inventive you may be able to re-introduce her to the regular fruit and veg she knows but twist them to make them a bit more fun and just that little bit yummier.

I also find that if I serve myself something up and sit down and ignore the kids, they almost certainly swarm and want to eat what I am eating.
