Looking for advice here,

DS is 18 months and we have been trying for about 6 months of and on to wean on to organic full cream cows milk, we have been doing it gradually just 1/4 of a bottle and the rest formula.

Every time we try he gets diahroeah and dark circles under his eyes, sometimes he even looses a little weight :geek:.

I know that sounds like a form of LI or CMPI right?

But here is the really weird part... his current formula is a standard cows milk based toddler forumla, not soy or goats or neocate ?????

In terms of gut history he was on TPN at birth due to being 10 weeks premmie, he then slowly went on to OG feeds of EBM and the NG EBM feeds on and of for another 5months with some bottles.

He then went onto karicare gold with no issues and has been on cows milk based step 1,2 and toddler formula since then.

He has GERD and an eroded oesophagus.

He was FTT and is now in and out of that category.

Oh and he is on omeprazole.

Any thoughts?

My daughter too cant have cows milk although she was fine on formula (Heinz nurture).
The Pead told me that although formula is made from cows milk, the drying process changes the proteins, therefore formula has different proteins to the actual cows milk.

She still has some problems but now almost 6 she can handle maybe 1/2 cup of milk a day or some cheese and yogurt ( the proteins in cheese and yogurt also differ to cows milk through processing)

She is opposite though and had severe impaction in her bowel from being blocked up.

I have cows milk dramas and i get crampy stomach, pain worse than labour and the runs for 24 hours after having just one small cup of iced coffee. I to can cope with 1 tub of yogurt or 2 thin slices of cheese.

Maybe discuss it with your Pead or GP.

DD1 had troubles getting onto cows milk yet she was fine with formula.
we did take note that she was fine with yogurt, cheese and other dairy products. i guess milks was just that little bit too much.
we decided to just keep her on formula until she was 2 and then we would take it from there and start looking at other options (at that point she had tried soy and rice milk and the response to them was us getting looked at like we were crazy ) but the funny thing was at around 2 she she started having milk and was perfectly fine.....

i think her stomach was just not ready before then.

oh and she is an odd chicken. she is fine with home brand and other cheap brand full cream milks but dairy farmers she refuses to touch.
