View Full Version : Cadence??
Hey mummies and mummies-to-be I was just wanting some input on the name Cadence, my DF and I quite like it but have had a lot of people give us a funny look when we mention it!! At the end of the day we will do what makes us happy but woud live to know what others think!! If Cadence dosent work out our other option is Kailey. Input would be greatly appreciated!!! :p
Personally I prefer Kailey to Cadence, and I think it goes well with your other DD's name Ella. Good luck in choosing!!

I like Kailey too but thats just what i think :o good luck with ur choice!!
yeah we think it suits our DD better to!! We also want to use Shae as a middle name (are there any other girl forms of shane?? I know shane can be used for girls but it was my dad's name so it would be weird for me!) Kaylie Shae sounds way cuter than Cadence Shae!
I absolutely LOVE the name Cadence. Its pretty and feminine and musical. If you love it then go with it, and remember, you will get funny looks no matter what you chose because...people are like that!!
Kailey is pretty too.

We have a mum of a Caydence right here on bubhub. Having posted with her since our babies arrived in December, I have read the name often and I still think it is a beautiful name. Very pretty.
ps Kailey Shae sounds a bit like Keely Shae-Pierce Brosnan's wife. I don't know if that would concern you. I only picked up on it because I have a friend with a Shae and a Keely.:D

I like Cadence & Kailey, but Kailey Shae sounds nicer.....:)
Of course I'm biased here - my daughter is Caydence(the one Sal was referring to!) so of course I think it's a beautiful name. But as others have said Kailey Shae is a really nice combination.
Good luck with your choice!

Caydence is proberbly closer to how you would say it I suppose (K-dence)??

I love love LOVE the name Cadence!! I'm musical, and if I end up with 4 children and the last one is a girl, I'll be naming her Cadence. :)
(If you don't get what I mean, in music a cadence is an harmonious ending... the "Amen" at the end of a hymn is a cadence. A major fourth and then back to the first. That last sentence sounds wrong, wow I am very out of practice with my theory LOL)
The Queen is on the right track - Caydence means the rythum(SP??) of things - very beautiful and suits my little girl to a T

Cadence does indeed mean rhythm. It's more often used to refer to the rhythm of speech: the pattern of syllables and intonation that we use to mark out the structure of speech.
If you find yourself re-writing a sentence because the sound of it just feels wrong - if the sentence just stops dead at the end with no warning, or all the emphasis is bunched up in one lump, or if you find yourself adding an extra item to a list of things so that your sentence has the right number of syllables, you're fixing the cadence.
Good writers pay a whole lot of attention to this, because a sentence with a familiar rhytm gives us a pattern we can seek out and complete. When presented with 'shave and a haircut', we feel compelled to read ahead to 'two bits', in order to complete the pattern - and gain a small sense of inner satisfaction thereby.
Personally, I'd consider it too common a word to use as a name - it'd be like being called "accent".
But then, I'm a geek.
Yeah we knew it means rhythmical etc, I ride horses and its often used to describe the horses rhythem (der) etc, and DF is very musical so It was a name we both thought would suit us, thanks for all the input, think we are heading towards Cadence at the moment!! (After all that it will be a boy, I know it) and if Cadence fails we can always use apostraphe or comma or accent :D (thanks Mr Noodle!!):D
I love Cadence, prefer it to Kailey.

OK I'm a bit biased but my neices name is Cadince. So I love the name Cadence. It's a beautiful name!!
I love both of your names!! and I dont think Cadence is odd at all :)
We have Caydence picked out for a girl. I think cadey is a cute nickname too.
We havent told many people but one person said that too american???
Considering DH is american i dont see the problem, but i think its just as common here?
good luck with deciding
Cadence is an absoutely gorgeous name, I would go with that, there are heaps of "K" (eg: kiara, katesha and Kailey etc) kids around, and cadence is very original for a name, might even steal that one for my baby if its a girl!!! lol. It truley is beautiful, very feminine. It is also very antique sounding.
Jo
Yup. Cadence Shae for me, too. :yelclap: I think it sounds gorgeous. You mentioned Kailey Shae sounding cuter. Just think.....she has to introoduce herself to people when she is 50!!!! You'll want a name that sounds beautiful for a baby and a granny! I think Cadence Shae sounds so beautifully classic.
Love,
Nan. xx
I think Cadence is lovely too

I have to say Cadence, is a really beautiful strong name. I really like Shae as a middle name too! What about boys names, have you picked any out. I think boys names are harder (well for me anyway) im having such a hard time.

Cadence :smiliedance: :smiliedance:
Ahh you have all been so awsome (see just keep agreeing its a good name, we wont have any problems!!;) ) So where definantly going with Cadence Shae for a girl (I'm not 'in love' with the name shae but my dad's name was shane, he passed away when I was 13 and I love the fact that my daughter would have a bit of him in her) For a boy were thinking of Bailey Shane. I'm not sure how certain I am on Bailey, I think I just like the girls names better so thats why it's making me feel unsure HELP................... :D
any other good boy names that arent to 'common' or 'wierd' and go well with Shane?? (not to much to ask hey??)
Not sure if either of these suggestions really go with Cadence but what if you rearrange the letters in Shane to Senah or Nesah???(can also get Ashen but that might be too weird!!) Just a thought....:o

babybungee - if you're not 100% on Bailey, what about Baylen? I love this name, my friend's DS is called this and he's such a cutey!
My friend has the most beautiful daughter called Kailea (pronounced Kailey) so I adore this name, although it's pretty common now. And obviously I like Cadence as my DS is Kade! And I really love the name Shae. So my preferences are:
Baylen Shane
Cadence Shae
Good luck and let us know what you decide!!

It's okay. I found that last year it got really popular and then the hype was over. It's cute, but I think I like Kailey better!
I like Cadence but I love the name Kailey much better! Its a gorgeous name, and Kailey Shae sounds so beautiful!!
Don't worry what others say, go with the name that you love!! All the best hun :)
i like both Cadence and Kailey they are pretty names
