my DS has been lacking in the weight gain department for a few months each time his mchn has weighed him in 4 weeks once he put on 100grams, anothjer time it was 2 months later and he put on a bit more but not much.
he eats like a horse and pees like one too lol anyway, i am getting worried as he has the flu right now and the dr said DS was on the borderline of being underweight for a 12 month old at 9kg. he has lots weight since his last MCHN visit.
could his the fact he is lactose intolerant be playing a part in this? he has reacted to other foods as well. such as potatoes,tomatoes,weet-bix and bread.
i just dont want him to keep losing weight if i can stop it coz he is starting to stuggle to fit into his size 0 clothes and before he was almost outgrowing some.maybe i am being paranoid who knows.

Is he breastfed or formula fed?
If he's breastfed, its really normal for BF babies ot put weight on slower than FF babies, and the current weight tables are based on FF babies - and most health care professionals don't understand this.
If you're really stressed, ask for a referral to a paeditrician, but ask yourself - is your DS happy? healthy? having 6-8 wet 'sposie nappies a day? Bright and alert when he's supposed to be? Sleeping okay? If yes - he's fine. What's your instinct on it? Is he okay, or is there something wrong?

Okay, well there are some good signs there, and some potentially worrying ones - wait till you see the paed before you stress out too much!
The other thing to consider is, is he putting weight on in proportion to how tall he's growing - if so, he's okay (Some babies have got to make up the small ones at the bottom of the charts!)
If not, there is potentially a problem - but again, don't stress too much, you're doing all the right things, and the paed will have some more ideas for you!
Hang in there, you're doing fine.

well the last few weighings by his MCHN he has been in the 50 percentile for height or there abouts and below that for weight. he had to get weighed the other day to work out correct doasage of medicine for his flu and thats when we learnt he had lost weight.
he has gone down a size in nappies. and his belly is bloated like he is preg:laughing:
and me and Dp are both short but i am the thin one lol
