OK so doing my research as we want Hunter to attend a pre prep class.
Now phoning around to C&K organizations it seems as though it is not structured that they ask the child what they want to do etc (called blue water or something). My concern with this is that once they get to school they have already been given free reign in pre prep and find it hard to adjust to a school structure and think they can dictate when to do things etc.
I wanted a C&K as i heard they were great but now im a little hesitant. So please help me. What info can you give me about other kindys etc are they day cares? How did your childrem like it etc... I have so many questions i cant even think lol
2011 classes already have huge waiting lists :(
If you are able to shed some light i would be so thankful :hugs:

DS just completed his year at pre prep. He went to a C&K also.
I Highly recommend their program. The curriculum is called building waterfalls ;)
It is a play based curriculum, which means the kids set the tone. The teachers go off what the children are interested in & plan their activities based around that. It is structured to a certain point. As in they have routines through out the day.
Children of pre-prep age, I believe need routines, but dont need to be in a structured learning program yet. That is what school is for.
As far as I know prep is similar to pre prep except that they slowly intergrate the into the rest of the school through the year.
Our C&K experience has been very positive :)
I have just put my DD1's name on a waiting list at 4 local C&K kindys for pre-prep 2010 and they are getting quite full (yes I left it a bit late, wont' do that with DD2).
DD1 has previously attended a C&K childcare and I think the 'building waterfalls' cirriculum is great  Remember this is 4yo-5yo, so you don't want it to be too structures - there is plenty of time for that in grade 1 (I hear prep isn't structured either!).
Good luck deciding!

In answer t your question, other than C&K kindergartens, most other Kindy's ARE in fact Day Care centres...
DS is in Daycare Kindy at the moment, and I dont like it...
His name is down for C&K for 2010 as I left it too late to put him in next year.
Instead I am changing his kindy to Free Range Kids, as they offer a similar program to the 'building waterfalls' based on the same idea and all, his current one has set out plans for each day, and kids iss out on things they 'enjoy' doing, and therefor dont have as much fun, or learn as much..
They learn more when they enjoy something....
What is C&K ?
In Victoria there is kindergarten for 4 - 5 year olds, which all children ideally go to for a year before they start school. Is it the same thing?

Here ladies, check it out, basically it is a Community based Kindergarten association in QLD.
Welcome to C&K
Established in 1907, C&K is proud to be the largest and longest established provider of community based early childhood education and care services in Queensland.
Our philosophy, where children come first, emphasises the fact that for C&K the interests of children are paramount. Any profits generated from our services are returned to benefit children and the community.
We are committed to providing quality education and care for your child’s pre-schooling years (from birth to school age) in an environment − both inside and outside − that enables children to explore, satisfy their natural inquisitives and grow as individuals. Independent research indicates that children who have enjoyed a C&K early learning experience are the most successful in their first years of schooling.
Over the last century hundreds of thousands of Queensland children and parents have become part of the C&K family. As a community based association we recognise the valuable role families and the wider community play in children’s education and care.
We look forward to you, too, becoming part of our strong C&K family.
My DS1 has also just finished his year at Pre Prep with C & K. He has had the best year, they are fantastic and i can't recommend then enough.
My DS is now more then ready for Prep next year.
