When changing formula from the newborn to the 6 month is it ok to change brands?
I know the companies that make it will tell you not to do it because they want you to keep buying theirs, but wondering if it can do any harm?
Just asking because we use S26 gold and is quite pricey and have noticed Heinz and Nan is alot cheaper and a friends midwife told her that both these brands are preferred at her hospital.
I wouldnt think there would be a problem. If any of these dont agree with him, at least you know that S26 works. I used Hinze with my little one, and he is find, and that was the third one I tried!!
James is nearly 5 months but I change formulas all the time depending on price. I usually chop and change between Heinz Gold and Karicare Gold, or the plain Heinz and Karicare. Not sure if you should change but if a particular brand is on special, I do.

My little boy,
If you do decide to change to NAN, My Chemist and Chemist Warehouse sell them for $15 compared to other places where they can sell for upto $19.
I go through a tin every 4 days and the savings are great

My DD was also on the S26 Gold and when she turn 6mths i changed her to the Heinz formula and she was fine. Its a HUGE saving. I was spending $45 for 2 tins a fortnight now it only costs me $25 for 2 tins.
Like jkat said if for some reason his tummy doesnt agree with the Heinz formula you could always put him back on the S26.
my son is on the s26 gold alpha pro from birth to 6 months. once he turns 6 months i dont just start buying the 6 months stuff and only give him that do i? do i have to gradually change over like u do when u want to use another brand? if i wanted to change brands how do u gradually change them over. i'm not sure how to go about all of this... please help me. :(

There is no need to change to the follow on formula if bubs is happy with the formula you are currently on. We wouldnt have changed had bubs hadnt wanted more trying to feed every 2hrs again like a newborn thats how i knew to step up. If you do change you can go to another brand just remember to take it slow & introduce a bottle of the new formula with the old for a few days then gradually add another for a few more days & so on. Change over can take up to 2wks & during this time bubs may be a little unsettled due to it but remember to give it the good 2wks. Introduce the new bottle in the morning that way you will notice if there is a reaction immediately & stop.
Good luck :)
Carls - I wouldnt keep chopping & changing if i were you it can do more harm than good please take care.
