Hi!
I just wanted to inform all those who are likely to have a cesarean that in some companies, your partner is entitled to a 6 week "primary carer's leave".
This is leave that does not come off your annual or sick leave.
You are paid your normal wage for this time period.
All you have to do is apply for it and provide documentation from your Dr that shows when you are due to go in for your cesar, and that you will require some care and help while healing at home, after giving birth.

We had no idea that this was the case. When DH went to apply for annual leave so he can stay home to help me after baby #2 ws born. he found that he was also entitiled to primary carer's leave. So he took advantage of it. It was fantastic as unlike after my first cesar, I had no other help. My parents had reutned to work by the time i gave birth the second time around.

I hope this helps. Sometimes we have opportunities there and we just don't know it.
I hope this will help at least some of you out.

Good Luck!

It would depend on what award (if any) you're under. That wasn't the case when I had E. DP was only entitled to one or two weeks (can't remember) paternity leave as I was the primary caregiver.

It certainly would pay to check with the company you work for that's for sure!

At my DP's place of employment he could apply for Special Leave or something after me having both cesareans. It wasn't 6 weeks he had off but it was an extra 2 weeks that he wouldnt of otherwise had.
