Hi, this is the first time I have posted so hope I am doing ok. I am just wanting to know if there are any other mums out there who are breastfeeding their bubs and having poo probs!

My DD is 6 months old and 85% breasfed. She is on some solids (veges) and has approx 120 ml of formula at night.

When fully bf she only pooed every 12 days, now she poos every 4-5 days. She becomes incredibly distressed (even when she was fully bf), and cries in pain when pooing. However she is not constipated...poo is very soft. Have been to paediatrician who says it is just sensitive bowels (we do have irritable bowel syndrome and coeliac in family).

Anybody experienced anything similar and any advice???

She could just be getting used to having solids in her system. Charli had terrible wind pains for a few weeks after starting solids.

Steer clear of starchy food (banana, potato, sweet potato). And you could introduce fruit (apples & pears are good) and you can mix them with veggies. Don't worry about the taste combinations - we had pear & carrot, pear & corn etc etc.

Try her on one or two types of solids for a start and gradually introduce new things. That way if something sets her off you will be able to identify it more easily.

Thanks. I think wind has a lot to do with it as she cries when passing wind also! Good advice re fruit and vege mix as I would not have thought to do that. I have tried getting apple into her straight but she spits it out...her fave is zucchini...hmmm zucchini and apple..what a taste sensation!! :D
