Am I ovulating?

My first cycle after breastfeeding was 42 days but I started taking vitex about half way through. I'm now into my second cycle and am on day 12 of a ?? day long cycle and am wondering if I am ovulating now or not. It's my first time charting and testing and I'm not sure which evidence to believe. :detective:

I've been using MaybeBaby since AF and since day 9 have had 2 days of partial ferning followed by 2 days of full ferning but I have also tried fortel and clearblue OPK's and they've all come up negative. Fertility friend isn't clear as my temperatures are up and down. For two days CM was showing as fertile and then disappeared completely.

We already have a beautiful boy so this time are trying for a girl so I don't want to BD if I have ovulated.

Does anyone know if MaybeBaby is more reliable than OPK's? :idea:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I've tried OPKs and have a Maybe Baby. I find that the OPKs just don't seem to work for me. My Maybe Baby shows full ferning that matches with fertile CM and I can be getting negs on OPKs:( . Therefore last month I decided to just stick with the Maybe Baby (and it's cheaper in the long run)

Hi Tomsmum. I started taking Vitex a couple of months ago and it seemed to make my clycles much longer and I ovulated later.... not too sure if that could be the case for you. I have stopped taking it - hoping to go back to a shorter cycle. I am not too much help with the opk's - I find that I get ferning on my Maybe Baby all through the month - but I do find my temps the most reliable way of checking when I ovulate.Good luck :)

Thanks for the replies.

Fertility Friend is now saying that I ovulated on friday:eek: , which scares me as we BD on friday and saturday so a boy is now just as likely as a girl. Oh well I'll love either if I end up with a BFP

Sorry to but into this thread,tomsmum2005, can you just help me. If you BD Saturday, a day after you "OV" then wouldn't you maybe have left it to late, or 24hours later you would still hook up with the little guys. I don't mean to be negative, I'm confused it looks like I O'vd on Day 9 after lunchish and we BD am on Day 11, and I think I missed the egg? Sorry to interupt:idea:

I'm assuming FF isn't 100% accurate and that I ovulated Friday/Saturday so I am now worried because I only BD once before ovulation (Wednesday) and twice around the time of ovulation (when i hadn't planned on doing IT on or after ovulation.)

Does anybody know how accurate fertility Friend is? I had hoped to use it and Maybe Baby to time when we BD. Has anybody used these and been successful in getting a girl?

I don't really believe in 'have sex 3 days before O' now quotes ..

I did AIU ( IUI ) on ovulation day and ended up with a GIRL :D literally "yes rove" literally .. Brooke should have been a BOY!

I used to be a member of FF and it wasn't accurate for me! I find I ovulate around cycle day 18-19-20 and AF will appear exaclty 12 days later. I always get EW around cd18 etc .. always.

Dont mean to hijack the thread - but how can you be sure you are ovulating? Do you have to go to gp for a test, or should you be able to tell from cm? I dont use FF as im possibly a bit stupid, lazy and the fact i dont have a 'normal' temperature - my temperature runs very hot all the time! I have used maybe baby this month, showed ferning - but do you get that if you ovulate? or is it just showing a rise in hormone.

Djf - its a been while since I tempted .. if you are going to temp you should keep a chart close . if your not getting higher temps in the 2ww .. If you not seeing clear low temps and clear high temps then your not ovulating .. you may have to see you GP.

Are you temping at the same time each morning?

I used to take my temp at 6am before I got out of bed .. my cycle days leading up to ovulation .. cd18-20 was when my eggs would release .. before ovulation my temps used to be around 36.2 .. on ovulation day it would be 36.0 .. after ovulation your temps should rise well above the 1st 2 week temps .. so my temps after ovulation would range from 36.6 to 36.9 .. then suddenly drop the day before AF would arrive again ..

My GP made me temp for about 6mths before he sent me to a fertility specialist.

My temps on a normal day can be almost 40 c (yes - thats a temperature for normal people!) or much lower - i never have a normal temperature so it isnt a good way for me to test, not reliable enough. So thats why ive just been using maybe baby and cm.
