The last few days 15 month old DD has been quite disinterested in her morning breastfeed,(her only feed of the day),so I have decided to stop and just give her cows milk instead tomorrow and see what she does.If she doesn't complain I will stop.
My question is: Even though she only has one feed a day,am I still at risk of developing lumps or mastitis stopping this feed altogether or will it just dry up with no dramas?
I've never had success expressing,so I don't think that would work if I had to make myself feel more comfortable due to fullness...not that I feel that full anyway.
Thoughts anyone?

Not having been through this myself, I'm cetainly no expert, but I think that as she's only having one breastfeed a day, and you drop that, then your milk will just naturally "dry up" (not that it really does this - you'll still be producing milk, just won't be a lot - my mum who last breastfed a baby 21 years ago, can still get a drop or two if she squeezes!)

I don't think you'll be at danger of getting mastitis, but keep an eye out for any tenderness/redness/lumps, and if you get any, hop in a warm-hot shower, and massage the lump out toward the nipple.

Good luck!

I agree about your milk just drying up. I wish my bubba was uninterested in her morning breastfeed as she usually wakes up at 5am and is non stop sucking till about 8!!
