Yesterday DF, myself and DD took a trip to visit the IL's, its about 2-3 hour drive there, and 2-3 hour drive back.
Any way, the drive down was ok, but the drive back was horrible. When I put DD in the car seat she started crying, kind of like she was in pain or uncomfortable.
So any way, we thought that we would drive a few mins and see if she calsm down, which when we started driving, she stopped crying and was fine. But about 30 mins into the trip she started screaming, not crying screaming, but screaming.
So we stopped and checked her over and she seemed perfectly fine, so thought maybe she was overtired coz she hardly slept all day, so we put her back in, gave her her bottle and started driving.
Any way, this morning I went to change DD"s nappy, and she was crying in pain while i was wiping her, and she looked quite red, and painful. I put some bepanthen on it once id aired it out a bit.
Im assuming that her crying while in the car seat was coz the buckles were putting pressure on the area and causing pain.

My DD has never had nappy rash, so I dont really know what to do. I have bepanthen and sudocream, not sure which is better, or if there is anything else some one can recommend me use?
She seems ok since I changed her nappy, but im just after some help. If she does start getting irritated by the pain, should I give her some panadol? Or would that be no help?

Like I said, I have never had to deal with Nappy Rash, let alone painful Nappy Rash. So any tips or help any one can give me that would be great.

MDD got really nasty nappty rash at 2 weeks old and i know what you mean about the screaming, it sure is painful for them. I also use Bedpanthen and sudocrem and curash powder.
To clear up the rash, start by not using baby wipes to clean her after wet/dirty nappies. Use cooled boiled water and a face washer to clean the area. Baby wipes have chemicals which will cause more pain on contact with the rash. At each change, keep her dry, and apply either curash powder or sudocrem. Personally i use curash powder at every nappy change, then sudocrem after every bath. make sure bath water is cooler than normal too, to lessen the pain. the powder keeps her dry and is soothing. my DD has never had nappy rash since.
if it doesnt clear up after about 3 days, you will need to see a nurse or doctor asap. sometimes the rash can turn into an infection like thrush which needs antibacterial cream or antibiotics.
