Hi, Im just after some re-assurance I guess.

DS2 is 5.5 months old and 1.5 weeks ago I finally got my period back even though I stopped BFing 3 months ago.

Since it came back, it's REALLY heavy, flooding at times and TMI but Im also passing clots  One clot was half the size of my palm

It's been heavy for 1.5 weeks now and not showing any signs of slowing down. I have no cramping or pain either, which is weird becuase I get very bad period pains when AF does visit and have in the past.

I have a Dr's appointment on Monday (earliest I could get in) and I guess in the mean time I can just ride it out and maybe get some advice from anyone here who has experienced this before.

My Mum, Grandmother, and Aunt have all had Hysterectomy's at age 40 due to heavy and flooding periods (They would stand up and it would gush out) and Im incredibly worried Im heading down the same path and Im only 26 yrs old!
Mum did mention could I be possibly pregnant and actually having a miscarriage, but I highly doubt it as my cycle has only just returned and DH had the snip 4 months ago.

i would definately try to see a dr sooner. or go to emergency. does not sound normal to be passing clots that big.

Thanks, Im hoping it's nothing to worry about and it's my body giving itself a good clean out

The Dr I see is fully booked until Monday and let's just say, GC Hospital is not a delightful place to go to  They would just send me home

I had really heavy first periods after both my kids. I didn't get clots though.

Ring the doctors first thing tomorrow and say it's urgent and ask to be seen tomorrow. I think you should be seen sooner than monday. If you have to tell the receptionist your story do it ... at least it then can be run past a doctor and they can say whether you need to come in tomorrow or not. But, ring the moment they open - that's when many doctors fill their last minute emergency spots for the day.

listen to me, you need to see someone SOONER than monday. a clot that big is serious and the fact that you have passed multiple clots is even worse. dont kid yourself just because you arent in any pain. personally i would be off to emergency to be checked, especially with the family history you have mentioned.

I thought you had your first AF a while ago chick, i'm all confused  (which isn't uncommon lol)

first AF's are genrally heavier than normal, and clots can be normal as well, but the size you discribed isn't "normal" so definatly see if you can get into a doc tomorrow, even if its not your usuall one

ring first thing, as someone else said, they have spots that they have empty that they fill first up, your history is the thing that is most concerning,
hope it's all ok, but go to the doc...

I hope everything is ok Beth. I agree with the others, call 1st thing tomorrow and tell them that it is an emergency and it cant wait until monday.

:hugs: i hope it is okay and your body is just getting back into the swing of things and clearing itself out.

False alarm that time, it was like a smear of blood and then nothing

I went and saw a GP yesterday, he wasn't very helpful and just said it was "normal" :geek: Just told me to come back in a week if it's still happening

Luckily I have a Dr's appointment (with my own GP) in the morning, the clots have stopped, but the flow it still pretty heavy
Im glad that the clots have stopped, it was a few of them that passed and then just the really heavy bleeding. Man I hope nothing's wrong :fingerscrossed:

Updating my own thread :D

Saw my GP this morning, she's put me on the pill to see if it's stops the bleeding and clotting. If it hasn't stopped it in 4 days, I have to go back and get a scan. If the bleeding doesn't stop, she suspects it may be fibroids, damn it.

THIS HAPPENED TO ME, please ring someone and go to emergency, I was suprised when I got there, they rushed me inside when I described golf ball clots. I had an infection and was actually septic and could have died. I didnt feel sick or anything infact I drove 50 kms to emergency myself. In the end I needed a D&C after many many courses or anti biotics.
In the case of your GP, the same thing happened to me, they said it was too long a gap between pregnancy and bleeding to be an infection and he was WRONG. Young healthy bodies can hold off septic infections for months.
You will probably have retained products, and need to insist on a d&c.
