I had my daughter there about a year ago and found it to be wonderful, my midwife was also a laction consult and there SCN was great as well.
The Sofitel program is also available for those who have uncomplicated births but being a surgical elect c-sect I couldnt participate but still found everyone to be wonderful. I will definatly be having any future children there.

do you get a guarenteed private room? can partners stay over night?

All the rooms are private, they have the smaller rooms post surgery or iintervention for the first day or so and then move you to a double bed room which partners are allowed to stay, they can also stay if you are accomodated at the sofitel.

thanks for that,
based on this advice i have swapped from the Mercy Hospital in Heidlebery to Francis Perry. I have paid for private health insurance for so long i may as well get the benefits.... I have booked in with Dr Sue Hiscock. Has anyone got any feedback.?

cheers

Hi beckkles,
Can I ask who is your ob?

Hi hello kitty,

Why change from mercy? is it really that bad after your inspection?
Thanks

It was Mark Umstad, great ob hard to get into. I also had Peter England who works on rotation weekends with Mark and thought he was lovely

The only reasons i changed from Mercy to FP is because Mercy could not guarentee a private room, and FP has more chance that you do. Also, FP are very well organised and have sent me a welcome pack whereas Mercy did not. But the Mercy was a really modern nice hospital and i would still recommend it. its just personal preference.

good luck

A few friends of mine have had their babies at Frances Perry and I have had nothing but glowing reports.

Peter England was also my friends obstetrician and she thought he was great. My obstetrician, Len Kliman also delivers there and he is excellent as well - he is Dr Herb in Kaz Cooke's "Up the Duff" book.

I had my DS there in December and thought it was fine. My midwife during labour was so nice and wonderful. The hospital is great and my DH was able to stay everynight!!

Hi,
I'm preganant with my 2nd (yay!) I am also very interested in going "private".. FP sounds great, but my question is:
Do you just call any obstetrician out of the blue, or should a gp refer you??? I am confused!!!

With some of the more popular obstetricians it's best to call them and book an appt. when you get your :bfp: ...do it even before you call hubby!!!
Then you go to your GP to get it all confirmed (which is quite ridiculous because they'll do virtually the same test you've done at home!) and then you'll get a referral to the ob of your choice.

Congratulations to you. I will be there on Thursday to deliver my babies, but so far I too have been very impressed by them.

good luck shajake! why are you having them so early? Hope you are all ok.
The only negative thing I have heard about FPH is that it will be moving to flemington near the childrens in 2008 so unless you live over that way its further to travel.

Hi Winniethepooh, the reason for the early delivery on my twins is that there is about 500grams between both babies. I won't be needing them in 2008 but I guess you tend to go where your doctor goes.

Hi all,

Just thought I would update you. I met my beautiful identical twin boys last Thursday and Frances Perry have been nothing but wonderful. Had a really good experience and would recommend the hospital to anyone.

The level 3 nursery is wonderful as well. My boys will be there for about 6 - 8 weeks.
