 I would.
Heck, I would buy one for ME if I could remember where they come from. :o
Some HB midwives use only pinnards, some will have dopplers (mine did) so I guess it's up to you really :)

Either way.. I'd go looking for some reviews on them first.
That will give you some idea of what to expect from them and how long they might last.

No idea really, I don't like the things myself :)
Pinnards would give you a lot more practice of actively listening, actually my mw used a stethoscope 90% of the time, and only used the doppler if absolutely necessary.

I like the doppler better.. I'd be SOOO jealous if a midwife were listening to my babies heartbeat without me! :o

A doppler or a midwife?
While I was in labour the only thing the midwives did was pop the doppler on my tummy occasionally. Not really a special story, but it was really calming to listen to my babies heart beat.

Lol the doppler
Well they are a form of ultrasound, actually more concentrated than your normal u/s and as such are a bit invasive, many homebirthers won't have them used at all, if the mw can check the bub in a completely non invasive way, then usually that is what will happen.
It just depends really.

Lol the doppler
Not of my own, but it has been used..
How is it invasive.. Or more so than a stethoscope?
Am I thinking of something else?

Not sure either.... AM care to eleaborate? Lol sorry Im having one of those offfff days hahaha
Well u/s are high frequency sound waves, and so are doppler, so they are an invasive form of monitoring, and can raise the temp of the fetus (among other things)...if i am given a choice of things, I personally will always go the least invasive.
U/s has never been proven to be safe, so I prefer to avoid it.
