View Full Version : Strange question about clenched fists

I've noticed lately that Ava seems to have her left fist clenched a lot...
The other day I noticed it and thought she was holding something. I unclenched it but there was nothing in her fist. She then clenched it again.
She's sitting here now with it clenched again. Her other arm is draped around my neck and her right hand is relaxed.
I was just wondering if this is normal or something I should be worried about?

Does she open it to play and feed herself? If she's not using the hand then I'd be worried and get the GP to check it out & maybe refer onto a paediatrician or physio.
Goodluck.

I've been watching her today and she does open it.... I think she just goes through strange phases where she clenches it for extended periods of time.
I think I'm worrying about nothing, but I'm gonna keep an eye on it. :)
Maybe whenever you notice it, just take her fist and gently massage it to get her to open it and relax it, it could be just a funny habit she has picked up, and if she is encouraged to relax it frequently, it could help her break the habit.

Cheers I might do that. :)
She seems to have stopped for now. Maybe she does think she is holding something when she does it.
Yes...just a strange habbit I'd say! Corey (2) used to do this with BOTH hands...lol

Ok phew :D
She's not clenching it anymore now. Typical, as soon as I get worried enough to post she stops doing it. Hehe.
