Hi. I have been offered a part time job, and am not sure if I should take it. I am breastfeeding my DS, who is currently 7 months old. He is also on solids three times a day. (solid mush).

If I take the job I will probably be away for about 6 hours at a time, two days a week, so will be missing one feed. Would this affect my supply for the other feeds? He already has some formula after his mush, about 30 mls most times, due to weight concerns.

Any insight into this may help me make my decision.

Thanks...

Dropping any feeds may affect your supply, is there any way you maybe able to express in your lunch break to keep up supply??

I have tried expressing before, and am lucky to get 5 mls after 40 minutes!!!!!

Plus, cos I will only be at work for 5 hours, probly won't take a lunch break....

If I supplemented with more fenugreek or something do you think it would work?

Hi katkyle, I think it is your choice. Do you want to take the job? Missing one feed at 7 months would not be a huge change for baby. I was beginning to wean my babies by that stage anyway. With baby having solids, you are not so needed, anyone can manage a spoon to feed baby. You will be still able to fit in plenty of feeds through the rest of the day and there would be no worry of your supply drying up. good luck , Marie.
