Sorry if this sounds like a silly question. I used the search section but I couldn't find anything, so thought I would ask :o

I know there are loads of ladies out there who have fallen pregnant whilst breastfeeding, but I'm wondering if it's possible to Ovulate, then after 14 days not get a period and also not be pregnant :detective:

Hope that makes sense :o

My DD is 19 months old and we were hoping to try for another baby by now but my periods haven't returned yet as I'm still breastfeeding.

Last month I was so sure I was ovulating for the first time since DD was born (had all the signs) but more than a month later I still don't have my period :(. Is it possible that I did ovulate but just didn't get a period? I'm definitely not pregnant.

I've read alot about some women not getting their periods back until their child is completely weaned. I'm starting to worry now as weaning is not an option for us. There is no way I could wean my DD just so I could conceive another baby. I also had hoped to tandem feed in the future.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

x

Sorry I don't really know the answer for you, but I'd say anything is possible!

And thought I'd mention that you may also like to post this question in the breastfeeding section - you might get some more advice over there:thumbsup:

Goodluck with TTC!

Yes, you can ovulate whilst breastfeeding, but in an irregular way, so what you've described is possible. I ended up weaning DD as I just did not have any signs of ovulation (and no af) and we wanted another bub and perhaps another later and I felt time would not be on my side.

Anywho, I guess the answer is to bd a lot! Maybe you could use OPKs too - I'm sure they still work if you're breastfeeding. Good luck.

Thanks for your replies ladies :)

pkbub - that's a good idea about changing this thread to the breastfeeding section. Not sure how to do it though. Do I just notify a Mod?

Purplebird - I'm hearing you about time not being on my side. This is why I'm starting to worry a bit. I'm in my thirties and would really love 3 children. I can't leave TTC again too much longer :(. I don't want to wean my DD though :crying:.
