hey I just thought I would start a thread for everyone who is having difficulty with this issue... for me im SO  and always feel like :barf: and im only a day off 6 weeks (have to change the ticker, damn U/S lady went and changed my dates! :crying: ) ive only just started with a new team in my department but am still entitled to all my mat leave and thats the only thing that keeps me going everyday the fact I HAVE to work in order to get my Mat leave and would cut down my hours but when i go on mat leave ill only get the new hours paid for instead of the fact ive worked for a full year as full time! everyday I get home and feel yuk and cant cook and at work i just sit and constantly feel ill... what has worked for you working mummies to be? the only thing thats helped so far is going to bed at 7 and waking up at 7!!! its slowly wearing off!!!

I was working for my last pregnancy but not this... I honestly can't say which is worse... going to work feeling sick and tired or trying to look after a toddler!!

I had a really understanding manager and I basically told her as soon as m/s hit, which was early about 6 weeks. She knew before anyone else other than my partner! She was great and let me work from home when I needed to or take the odd morning off. If you have someone understanding on your side it can help. I used to have a large stock of snacks at my desk and would pretty much get into bed when I got home. My partner did all the cooking during that time. think i'd get up for dinner when it was ready and go back to bed! It was hard... i do remember some awful meetings when I just struggled so badly not to run to the toilet. At least with my crazy toddler I don't have to pretend and can put on DVD for a break...but at least when you're working (and don't have another one at home!)you can just flop down at night and have weekends to catch up on sleep too... my dd still does not sleep through the night, is often up til8/9pm at night and up at 5.30am sometimes.

Good luck, the second trimester should get much better - sickness goes for a lot of people and generally your energy returns.

thanks Freyamum ~ yes on the weekends it is quiet hard having to come home from work and look after DD instead of catching up on sleep but my DH is being very good about it all and has really been trying to get home early from work and cook... its hard when he has just cooked a lovely meal and you try to eat it but have to hold urself back from puking because you feel full even though you havent even eaten yet and your hungry!!!!

I think once my director at work knows I think I may be able to swing her around and ask to do things at home in the mornings or something?? I would just love to go part time though it would be much easier but I want full maternity leave!!! there should be a clause on mat leave!!!! if you work for a year full time once you find out your pregnant you can go part time but still be eligible for full pai mat leave!!!

Hey guys.
I dont work but i stay at hoem and look after my 9 month old son. I constantly feel like im going to :barf:. Its the worst. When i was pg with DS1 I was working and i had terrible m/s but I just told my bosses and they let me come in late each morning which was such a saviour. My m/s went when i was 15 weeks and im praying it goes sooner with this pregnancy, im only 8 weeks :(.
Have you tried the Blackmores Morning sickness relief tablets or the bands you can put around your wrist to help stop nausea?

Getting through the work day while pregnant, especially when morning sickness is a problem, can be difficult. But getting a little something in my stomach, like a breakfast bar, a piece of fruit used to help make the nausea subside temporarily.

:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:And a bucket for your woes. Absolutely sympathise...Worked f/t (53 hrs week) with m/s right up until 7 and a half months. Day and night vomiting and nausea.
The only thing that helped was tuna mixed with chilli. I don't know why, but it worked. Then one day I was at the shops, and ate my miracle cure, and by the time I came home, it was gone. Yay!
Hot chips helped too. None of the traditional methods worked, least of all eating a cracker in bed before getting up.

i'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant with baby #1 and not coping with morning sickness. I have been in hospital for it as i couldnt keep anything down for 3-4 days. i've tried eating before i get out of bed, Blackmore's morning sickness tablets, blackmores ginger travel tablets, red powerade, as well as a number of other thing and nothing seems to ease it off for me. the only thing that works ever so slightly is eating toast lightly spread with vegemite AFTER i have thrown up...

in regards to work, well i work at an indoor play centre for kids and finsing it hard but work is really supportive. I work in the kitchen and the smells that come out of there is shocking! i've worked about 5 days in the past 3 weeks as i just cant handle it at the moment...and i've got the next 2 weeks off as we have my fiance's daughter for a few weeks and its easier for me to take time off and look after her than it is him.

any other ideas please let me know!!

All that I can suggest is what worked for me, but we are all so different.

I'd eat dry crackers in the morning and then drink ginger tea and chamomile tea in rotation and suck on 'real' peppermints (from the health food store).

The combination really helped me with my 'stomach bug' and let me carry on - all three times I got the 'flu!

I can't stand work at the moment! I work in a chicken factory, I have to get up for work at 4am, I work 40 hours a week and the worst part is I work in the marinating section so it stinks to high heaven! I feel like I have the flu everyday because of the smell, It's freezing cold in there and the work is laborious so I am constantly on my feet, I'm just miserable at the moment. But all I can think about is getting through the next 4-5 months and then I'm outta there! I'll be taking maternity leave but I don't get paid a cent, my company doesn't care about it's workers, but I think I'll be quitting near the end of my maternity leave, Ive been there nearly 6 years and i've had enough of it!

Errg working with morning sickness is the absolute pits. I worked (GOD knows how) for the first 5 months of my pregnancy and quit after that. For the first three months I didn't tell them I was pregnant. But had to tell them as my reason for quitting after 5 months.

Some days I have no idea how I went there. I felt like I was going to vomit all over my desk most of the day. I came close a few times. haha Will power is an amazing thing!

Absolutely nothing worked for me. I couldn't STAND the taste/smell of ginger so that was no help. Maxalon didn't do a thing. All up I had what I would say was severe ms from week 6 to 17.

I felt like I could run a marathon after that 17th week though!

Nowdays I would never keep working if I was that sick again, I was just scared witless of anyone finding out about my pregnancy and losing my job.
