View Full Version : Childcare Costs
Just curious as to how much it costs to send your child to a daycare these days?
To send your child full time with both parents working - what would it cost approx?
Depends on your child care benefit rebate - you pay the gap between centre's fees and your subsidy - full fees are usually 40 - 80 per day depending on where u live but can't accurately work out your rebate u need to call centrelink for your % !!
It depends on
A)What your combined income is
B)how much the fees at the child care centre are.
I pay full fees and will (hopefully) claim any possible rebate back at the end of the tax year. I get no other centrelink or family tax benefits and don't trust them to calculate anything correctly, so would rather settle up at tax time. I pay $64 per day, though if she attended 5 days a week there would be a slight discount.
At the family day care she attended last year in Perth we were paying $55 per day plus $8 per week for the family day care scheme fee.
I get the very minimum Child Care Rebate - thinks it's about 13 something percent and to send both my girls to daycare M-F 8-6pm it costs me $900 per fortnight in total.
I'll be sending both my girls to child care from next week. The full rate is $47-$48 a day each. I'll be getting the minimum benefit also. I hope this will change in the new financial year. It makes it quite a difficult decision, whether it's worth going back or not - due to the take home money at the end of the day.
