View Full Version : Zoton for reflux?
My 4 month old DD has silent reflux. Last week my gp prescribed Zoton. He said although not yet commonly used for infants was better then losec and zantac.
After about 3 days I noticed a huge difference was finally getting her to sleep during the days and into some sort of routine. Now she seems to be vomiting more and the last few days has been harder to get to sleep during the day more than ever.
Has anyone else used Zoton? Should I just perserve with it for another week or so?
I am concerned that it is not really the right medication for infant relux and am considering asking for losec or zantac?
My baby is three months old and has just been put on Zoton. My paediatrician recommended it (one and half mil every 12 hours.) It’s hard to tell if it has made a big difference to her, however, she is not throwing up as much. I would try it over a few days as the Chemist advised me that you should see results very quickly, and if it does not work then discontinue the use, I think it’s better to try it and have a happier baby.

Hi!! How are you?
FINALLY - some other mums who have babies on Zoton!
My DS (now 5 months) was put on Zantac for silent reflux when he was 4 weeks old and all that did was make him projectile vomit, which he didn't do before. So back to the GP, where Zoton was prescribed.
I went from having a baby that constantly screamed, would hate to be lay down, would only go to sleep in my arms, etc, to a baby that slept in his cot, was happier and more cheerful.
I guess it's a matter of what works for your baby, but Zoton certainly worked for mine!
Also - just recently (as Zoton sachets are really hard to find at chemists for some reason - most have to order it in) I couldn't get my hands on a new box of Zoton, and so my DS went without for two days - and those two days were DREADFUL. He was back to being the angry, upset and dismal baby, who woke constantly at night and needed once again to be held upright to sleep. Mum and Dad VERY VERY tired. However, after two days back on the Zoton, good as gold!
I always make sure that my DS gets quite a bit of of the white granules for slow release.
