We bought our 4y.o. DS a cubby for his birthday last year but we don't have any actual toys in there for him to play with.
It's one of those ones with the climbing net and it has a steering wheel and telescope (it's really cool :)) but he doesn't play in it much cause there aren't any toys in there apart from the ocasional car he takes in.
Does anyone have any ideas of what to put in it for him to play with ?
We were thinking a kitchen ???? Bit worried about a table and chairs cause he might climb up on them to look over the sides (and it's 1.6 mtr off the ground!!!)
Thanks

Hey, We have bought our DS's one for Christmas so they haven't got it yet but I have been organising what I can put in there. When IL's ask for ideas for christmas I say anything to go in a cubby:p
I'm sure there is plenty to add that wouldn't cost much but somethings will (or will be given as gifts.)
We have a toaster/kettle/ microwave that make noises.
I will add a table and chairs.
Some dress ups (got nuts at the op shop)
Tea set?cutlery/fake food
Maybe beanbag with some books
We will have ours on the ground as then DS2 can get in easier.
My two will probably just have fun opening and shutting the door.
I'll try and think of more ideas but that will have us about covered.

I guess it really depends what theme you want the cubby to have,
*is it a home away from home
- then kitchen stuff
*is it a prirate ship
- then a chest so he can put treasure
*boat
-fishing rod with a float on the end so he can fish out the window
* Or it could be a place just for boys stuff
- toy drill, hammer, paint brush to paint the walls with water and some magazines(colouring books) a box made to look like a fridge with food like him lunch and a bottle of water. You can make it like 'ok matey you lunch is in the cubby fridge when you get hungry, let me know if there is anything else I can get you' he will feel so grown up

My kids have a table and chairs, some pretend monet, trolleys and pretend food, millions of empty boxes, paper and pens, dolls and a pram, and chalk! We have painted an inner wall with chalk board paint, so they can write on the walls at there lesiure.
They are a couple of good pretend kitchens in Big W and Target for $99 at the moment, one is plastic and the other timber.

I was going to suggest a kitchen,
also maybe one of those playmats with the roads and stuff on it for his cars
Some pretend play things like broom, mop, pretend food etc
Tool box (pretend one) with pretend tools
I dunno what else.
Where getting a cuby for our kids for Xmas but its just a plastic one.
