'Theories' on trying for a BOY...

My DP and I will be TTC in a few months, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on conceiving a boy?

Not sure if it's all a bit of hogwash :p, but I've heard you can time the time you DTD in your cycle that can up your chances, and things like that? We have a beautiful DD, who decided for herself that she was coming to us :D, so we haven't actually 'tried' before - hence my lack of knowledge :p

Naturally we will be happy with either sex, but I know DP is a little bit keen for a boy now. ;)

I'd love to know how you managed a girl :laughing:!! I got 2 boys when all I ever wanted was a girl.

1. DH to wear boxers.... keeps the swimmers cooler.
2. DTD on the day of ovulation - I've got 2 boys and it worked for me...

I totally believe it's down to the timing of you ovulating.......For a boy BD on Ovulation or after, for a girl before Ovulation!........I had a DS through fertility and they do the AIH ( Insemination ) right on Ovulation, this pregnancy now i did IVF and the same thing it's all done on the Ovulation date, i've had a scan and we're sure it's a boy!.......Good luck!

i have read dr shettles book 'how to choose the sex of your baby'. it is a really good read. talks about both sexes. to get a boy he talks about sex on day of ovulation or soon after. sex in the mssionary position. woman has to orgasm, man to wear boxers, not tight undies.

he suggests charting your cycle for a few months to work out the pattern and when you ovulate.

we are going to 'try' for a boy next year. we dont care either as to what sex the baby is but why not give it a go

I believe ovulation is the key they sat DTD 2-3 before O day but make sure you know that day before you try. I did the temping on Fertility friend for one month to find out my O day. I had 3 boys and this was our last chance we DTD 5 days before O day and yep we made a girl. I reckon there is some truth in it if you give it a good shot. Remember boy sperms swim quick but die faster.

Not sure that I'll be able to get DP to go the boxers either... might just have to work on the timing theory :p

Work out when you ovulate and then have sex on the day of ovulation and after.

A good way to work out ovulation is to buy and ovulation test kit from the supermarket. When it is positive it means you will ovulate within the next 24 hours so maybe the next morning after its positive would be a good idea.
