Girls you've been you helpful. Must be sick of me already but I have one more question.
Now that my baby is on zantac, his reflux seems to be improving slowly but surely.
Still something is not right in his belly, intestines I don't know. I have noticed that the more whey a formula has the sicker he feels.
Anyways could mums please tell me what symptoms their little ones had with lactose intolerance and with cow's milk allergy?????
Thanks heaps
Hey My Name Is Katie And I Was Also Wondering The Same. I Have A 15 Week Old Little Gil Clled Summa-lee
Hay don't ever feel silly for asking questions, Its how we all lern.
Both my kids were tested for lactose intolerance before being put on Zantac for reflux. I believe that the most comon symptom is very runny poos but can also include vomiting and crying in pain.
It is very simple for a Dr to test, they will just give you a jar to collect a poo samlpe then sent it off for testing.
Hope this helps

My DD2 had constipation and when she did a poo she would strain realy bad and cry also. I had the test done, just a poo sample. She has Lactose Intolerance and has Karicare De-Lact Formula now.
She started getting the symptoms at about 13 weeks, when i went onto formula..

Symptoms my son exhibited:
Runny nose, mucus and congestion
Crying and unsettled alot (same as with reflux)
Vomiting up after each feed (this sounds normal for most newbies to be a little chucky but with my son it was every feed, and hours after a feed too he just seemed really sensitive, I couldnt move him without him throwing up eg change nappy without him chucking up)
eczema
My son did one bowel motion a week as a newbie and it was like watery and filled up to 6 nappies (I was told this was normal for bf bubs but later the allergy specialist and paed. told me this is also a common sign of milk allergy.)
Crying in pain leading up to a bowel motion and wind
Grumpy and irritable, sleepless and unsettled.

Hi Alexandra
My goodness we are battling the same issues!! After nearly 12 weeks we are still playing trial and error to see what is wrong with our poor little Kade! He is on Zantac for reflux, and has always had terrible wind and tummy issues. After he pooed in front of the health nurse on Tues (who said it was much mushier than it should be on formula), the latest possibility is that he is allergic to cows milk.
I am now trying him on soy formula and he has generally been much more content. However, he has become constipated (we're putting Gaviscon into his bottle for the reflux so not sure if that's what's doing it or if it's just the new formula). Will keep you posted on how we go because every time I read one of your posts I think "yes, me too!!"
We have a paed appt on Mon so I'll let you know what he thinks.
In the meantime, good luck and let me know if you find out anything new!! :fingerscrossed:
Hey,
Just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth!!! hehe
I was one of the unlucky ones that had to put up with crappy docs and no-one really beliving that my little girl was in that much pain.
but her symptoms were- crying pretty much ALL DAY LONG! pulling her skin on her tummy and chest, screaming in pain, a bit chucky, like the whole bottle would come up , especially the morn feed. although she slept through the night from 9 weeks, thank goodness! but the poor little might was in that much pain from day 1 that it wasnt untill i jumped on thios site and had great advise from others to try the karicare de-lact formula, that all my probs were solved.
she had been on everything you could imagine...zantec brewers formula, natual stuff, mylanter...the list goes on.....
unfortunatly it wasn't untill she was 5 months so I delt with alot untill then and the poor little poppit was in so much pain thrashing around and no doctor or midwife even tested her for lactose intolorance...spewin!!
but after 24 hours on the new formula she was like a different baby!!! it was really miraculous!
so all the best and i hope that you find what works alot sooner than i did!! hehehe
good luck!
Jiminy.
