Hi everyone,

Just wondering how everyone else due in January is going? I am 9 weeks this week and I am already in maternity pants. I kinda feel bad when I read posts by other mum's to be who are 20 weeks and still fitting in to their normal clothes. I have had yucky morning sickness for 3 weeks now but am dealing with it as best I can. I am finding it really hard to stay motivated at work at the moment too. Even though I am not due until late Jan I am starting maternity leave on the 7th of November and can't wait. Does anyone know when is the right time to start setting up the nursery or buying baby clothes? I have bought a couple of things however everyone keeps telling me I am silly to be starting now. Also have any of the January mum's picked out names yet? Is anyone finding out the sex???? So many questions sorry but I just thought I would see how you all are going. I can't wait for my 12 week scan..........I just want to see little bubs floating around in there. I hope you are all well. Take care.

Love Beck.

P>S It would also be really interesting to hear how all your partners are going? My hubby has been pretty great and is sooooo looking foward to this bub (although my mood swings have been a little hard for him!!!) :p

Hi Beck! So far I've been lucky - I've packed on about 2kgs since finding out, but am still just fitting into normal clothes. Morning sickness has been so-so, but work has actually been a blessing, as it keeps me distracted. Mood swings haven't been too bad either. Yet.

Haven't decided if we'll find out the sex of the baby - Husband doesn't want to, and I'm not sure. We have picked out some baby names though.

November 7th? Wow, that's early. I'm gonna take off from work just before christmas, unless I get too tired.

I'm perhaps ultra-conservative about buying baby stuff, given am still in my first trimester - we haven't even really broadcast it yet. Just want to wait til I'm over the initial hurdle and then you won't be able to stop me!

Husband is very very happy. And he's been taking v. good care of me. Let's hope that continues once the baby is born and he's suddenly not getting any sleep. I'm not the type of woman who would let him shirk his responsibilities, as it were!

Good luck with your 12 week scan - am having mine in a couple of weeks. V. scary but exciting too!

Hello Beck,

I'm also due late Jan and it's our first baby. I'm 10 weeks this week but fortunately I still fit into my normal clothes, I don't know how because I've been eating like a pig. I've already pruchased some maternity clothes and they're just too big. I've also bought a couple of items for the baby (in neutral colours), I know it's too early and yes people have been telling me I'm silly to do so, but I can't help it. It's just too exciting. I can't wait to buy the big stuff like pram and car seat and toys.....
Like you I can't seem to concentrate on work and I can't be bothered. Some days I feel so sick that I just sit at my desk staring at the computer, not doing much at all, and I count the minutes before I can go home.

I had my first scan yesterday because I've been feeling sharp pains when I cough and sneeze so the Doc sent me to have a scan done, she already told me everything was ok, but to stop me from worrying I had to see bub move in my tummy. And it was amazing to see the little one moving around inside, such a good feeling when you know everything is ok.
I'm having another scan on 12th July for Nuchal Maternal Serum testing (to test for Down Syndrome). Are you having this test done as well?

We're not sure if we want to find out the sex of the baby since it's our fist one, it doesn't really matter as long as it's healthy.

We've gone through lists and lists of names that we both got confused so we are leaving this task for the moment, I like so many names that it's really hard to pick.

My husband is also very happy. He kisses my tummy at nights to say good night to the baby. I'm really enjoying the attention because whatever I want he will get, like the other night about 8pm I felt like having McDonalds, he actually went out to get it for me. :p

Anyway good luck on your scan and hope everything goes well for you.....
