View Full Version : Where has my AF gone?!
Hi there!
I have been taking the pill for 7 years (Diane 35 ED) and stopped taking it on the 1st October. I still havent had my AF and am getting really worried as I am now on day 58!!
I'm not sure what to do, should I go see my GP or just ride it out a bit longer?
Please help!

Hi Squirt!
I really don't know what's best... were u regular before u went on the pill?
It can take a while for the pill to wear off and plenty of people eventually resume normally cycles... the doctors desrcibed it to me as though the pill makes ur pituary gland go to sleep, and sometimes it takes a while for it to wake up again
at this point in time i would suggest a HPT if u haven't already, who knows AF might not have arrived for a very good reason  it can;t hurt going to the doctor but im not sure how much they'll do... if the doctor thinks it's suitable it is possible to take provera to bring on AF
Hey Squirt
I have heard that it can sometimes take a while for your body to adapt being off the pill. Were your cycles regular prior to going on the pill? My cycle has been really irregular since having my son, but I started taking a vitamin called Vitex which is to help assist with fertility and regulate your cycle and it's worked wonders. My cycles have been about 53 days each since April and this cycle was down to 37 days woohoo, I only started taking Vitex after AF last month so already it's working. Perhaps you could try that? It's a Natures Own brand, 60 capsules and it cost about 18.00 Are you trying to conceive? If not tying too hard then perhaps you could just wait it out? I know it can be frustrating though!! All the best : )
Hi Squirt,
I know exactly how you feel. I stopped taking the pill (microgynon 30) on the 22nd of September 2008 and it's now been 66 days and no AF.
It's really frustrating! have tried Pregnancy tests all negative so far. Just want my AF to arrive or to get a positive test.
Before the pill my period was like clockwork.
Any info/advice would be great

I know exactly how you feel. I went off the pill in April 08, after over 10 years and my cycle went back to normal straight away and I fell pregnant. Unfortunately we had a m/c in July and I had to go back on the pill (long story!) for three months. I came off the pill in September and didnt get AF for 72 days! I was beginning to stress so I saw my GP. He said they usually dont do tests until you havent had AF for 3 months. He booked me in for an ultrasound and blood tests and lo and behold a few days later AF arrived!
Good luck
It's just so annoying. I think I am going to wait until end of next week, and If I still havent had AF then I will make an app with the Doctor. I have started to feel some tenderness in my breasts so hopefully one way or another something will happen soon
Will let you know what happens and what the Doctor said if it gets to that
xx:)
Hi guys - thanks for the advice! I did do a HPT a few weeks back which was negative, so maybe I should do another one just to make sure!!
Before going on the pill my cycles were quite short, only about 25 days, so this is such a major difference for me! So much for the pill not affecting your body -geez!! Glad I went off it when I did, as DH and I were hoping to start trying this month!! Guess we'll have to put that idea aside until AF decides to come back!
This has been the only month EVER that I have actually wanted AF to come along!!
