Okay, well I am trying to work out what bills I will have when I move out. I will be packing my bags shorly but can't go too far as I haven't got much money at all.
I have just had enough of DH and I know that hes not going to change. :(
Expenses:
Internet~ $70, $35p/f (not that dear though)
Mobile~ $70mth, $35p/f transactions
Food (2kids, myself) ~ $250
Fuel~ $150
Rent~ $200p/w =$800p/m (don't pay rent but its going to be the killer)
Car Repayment~ $500p/m
Electricity~ $50p/m (3mths)
Rego~ $60p/m (6mths)
According to the famiy assistance I should get $1122 a fortnight so after all the bills I should be left with $294. But thats not including child support.
Who's name is the car loan u have in?
Dont forget contents insurance when u find ure own place.
Also you'll have a pension card which gets u a nice amount off your utilities aswell as car rego. Also gets you a telephone allowance for your home phone too

i already have a health care card. And the car is in both our names
yea a pension card is diff to a health care card. Pension card gets more discounts
If the car is in both ure names he should be paying half.
Gas (if you get a place with gas) its not that expensive but is an extra.
Daycare (if your kids go)
Car insurance
Trying to save something for the unexpected things.
HTHs, trying to think of what bills i had.

Car maintenance - I set aside $20 a week to cover 2 car services and a set of tyres (roughly every 2 years) Saves me having to fork out the whole amount when my car needs a new set of tyres.
Car insurance - again, it's good to set aside a little every week so that you're not hit with a huge bill.
You'll also need to think about bond and first 2 weeks rent for your house. That'll set you back $1200 to start with, although you may be able to get a bond loan.
If i were you i would be pinching every penny and putting it away in a safe place while you're still living with your DH.
Good luck hun :hugs:

I would also set aside a certain amount each fortnight for clothing....I have a clothing fund and what I don't spend in one fortnight rolls over into the next fortnight. Kids seem to grow out of everything at once I find.
Medication costs, prescriptions (at the concession rate) but also things like panodol, mylanta, cough medicine etc. Just setting a small amount aside each fortnight (say $5) means that when the whole house gets sick you already have all the money for meds and symptom alleviating aids like cough mixture, nurofen etc.
School monies for those things like excursions, extra hats when they lose theirs, new school shoes and the occasional tuck-shop lunch.
One good thing though is that with petrol coming right down in price your fuel budget could be a lot less soon!

because the cars are in both names is he decides not to pay the loan then it will default to you. get a stat dec done when you seperate that you will be paying $X for this car and he will be paying $x for his car. if possible try to refinance the cars into one name only. that way you won't have an extra expense if he defaults on his car.
you can probably save a bit on food. i usually only spend $200 a fortnight for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children) including formula and nappies.
definately try to save some money before you leave. and try to have an emergency fund. i have found that $1000 is a good amount to have "saved" for just in cases.
get the cheapest place you can find (rent wise) it doesn't hurt to put the kids in 1 room - so you can get a 2 bedroom place. units are reasonably cheap and ok while the kids are young. they don't need a huge yard to run in - small ones are fine.

Not meaning to stress you....but maybe you ought to double check how much you should be getting from centrelink.
Even with child support included ($75 /wk) I only get $1030 a fortnight. I do find it to be enough to get by, but I stick to a pretty tight budget. You may have to consider any ways u can cut down expenses a bit.
My expenses per fortnight are:
rent $360
electricity $ 30 (I pay this through centrepay, one less thing to stress about)
phone credit $ 50
groceries $250
daycare $ 50
loan repay $ 40
petrol $ 40
extras $ 50
savings $ 50
(and prepaid internet whenever I can afford it, and whatever amount I can afford)
total $960
surplus $ 70
A list of what we budget for, we have our own house, so some of the things may not be relevant, ect.
