Hi Everyone,
Quick question - I noticed some people are on three tabs of Metformin at night and others are on 1 tab twice a day - I am on 500mg tab 3 x daily so brekky, lunch, dinner...

Can someone tell me is this pretty normal? Why are some of us on split doses and some on a big once daily dose?

Does it make a difference? Any rationale behind it?

Just not sure.............

Scary facing these PCOS facts and trying for another baby.......

I know the basics but there is so much more to educate myself about....

Thanks girls.

Hi Meggs, I can't really comment on what is 'normal' but I am on the same dose as you and take them at meal times - in theory - I'm really not very good at taking tablets!

i'm on the same dose as you too...

i am supposed to take one in the morning and two at night (but i regularly skip breakky so i take one at lunch instead)

My sister is supposed to take all three at night...

I really don't think it makes any difference

Hey megs, honestly, although Dr's will tell you when to take them I think most women do what suits their body best. Many of us can't take the morning dose because it makes us feel sick. I am one of them. I know a couple who takes the full 2000 at night.

Many of the girls I have spoken to will say their Dr told them to take them here here and here but they feel better when they only take them at other times.

Possibly if you get up to 2000mg a day you will be given the 1000mg tablets so you will only have to take them twice a day.

I take mine at lunch and dinner because I get sick if I take it in the morning. I am assuming because my stomach is empty and breakfast is not enough.

hope that helps.
