Love the weather- although I don't think we got hit with the storm Bathurst did yesterday. The snow was not so crash hot. I had a lack of warm clothing for Anna- she's grown out of her 00's & I figured I wouldn't have to buy any 0's in winter gear. But we survived.
I had a false alarm with a client going into labour- which would have been nice in a hot birth pool- but twas not to be- not yet anyway ;)

OMG it is pouring down at the moment :gloomy:. Thank god I did the errands before it started. Its so windy and heavy and yesterday it actually hailed. Nice 10c piece sized lumps  I ended up stuck with a sleeping baby in the car. Could've been worse he could've been awake. lol
Im expecting it to blackout any minute...

 deesalie.
Sorry I didnt come back. That storm was wicked!
I was going to say. I didnt know that there were doulas in this area. I was thinking of getting a doula for my next pregnancy/labour seeing as this one went so left field. (Not that I plan to have anymore but still)
How do you find the work? How do you find working in a country area?
 Javalava hope you're keeping well

I'm actually the only "official" doula west of the mtns. And I love supporting women in one of their most intimate moments... particularly homebirths... too many hospital policies to deal with otherwise, which do nothing but hinder birth.
As far as working in a country area is concerned... it's neither here nor there... c/sec rates are increasing everywhere (Orange's are on the rise AGAIN) Homebirth is now becoming a valid, safe option & we have some great experienced homebirth midwives to help, where as homebirth used to be a dirty word! All in all, it's very liberating work! Crappy hours though :lol

I am so envious of you ladies. i used to live down that way, in a tiny little town called Eugowra. You may know it. I miss the country lifestyle.
I missed this. I am in bathurst :)

I bet it is nice and hot and dry down that way at this time of year.
I cant believe that you know where both Eugowra and Wauchope are. Most ppl have to hear Orange/Bathurst or Port Macqaurie before they understand the general location of the 2 towns I call home.
I have a old school friend who i think lives in bathurst now.

Yes I do have kids, Jade is 3, and another on the way due March, '09 - I'm a little unsure as to whether to keep travelling down to the hospital I'm booked in at, in Sydney, or just go to Orange Base... I'm really very hesitant in everything!
I'm 27, and a SAHM.
Im 28 and this is my first. Am due on the 17th. We have been living here almost a year. Would not go back to sydney if you paid me :)

HI
Emmylou, so how did you go? what did you have?
Its been pretty hot hey... I went to the parents group on wednesday, it was pretty good.
Im gonna have a drink tonight so i hope my baby behaves, he is asleep now and has been for a while now. I hope he sleeps tonight or at least doesn't scream all night.
So how is every one any way?
Hiya
I had a little boy and named him Albert Wilfred or alby for short.
Cant praise the midwives at the hospital enough they were so nice and caring. Ended up having a emergency ceaser.
Am sick of the heat, my animals are sick of the heat am looking forward to winter :)
What parents group did you go to?

Congrats, I had a C section too, I loved the midwives too we were up there for 17 days so got to know them very well. My animals are having a hard time with the heat too, me nd J are coping ok because we have A/C. So how is Albert going? i love his name, Alby is so cute. We go to the new parents group i got a letter telling me details of it, the youngest baby is 6wks and the oldest is 13 wks so maybe you will be in the next group that runs. Its pretty interesting and you meet new mothers with babies around your babies age which is great. What animals do you have?
I have a Guinea Pig Stud, i show them and breed them. They dont handle heat too well and at the moment i have most of the stud at a friends place as i cant look after a 3 week old and pull the pigs through the heat as that requires alot of my attention.
I hope i get to go to the new parents group, what do they do there? when do they run it?
Would be good to meet some other mothers.
I lock me and Alby in the bedroom where the air con is, the house is fairly hot and i feel its better for us both! Am so looking forward to winter again :)

I bet you and alby are enjoying the change in weather... and your pigs.
We breed and show snakes we have alot of them, they keep my partner very busy too but they love the heat of course, we are also in wires so the animals we get in keep us very busy.
Its so sad about the fires hey?
Its a shame the cool weather isnt going to last. But its not long now till autumn :)
What sort of snakes do you have? where do you show them?
I would love to be in wires but time dont allow it at the moment, it is something i want to do though.
it is very sad about the fires i cant believe over 200 people have died.

Woohoo, I finally found some Bathurst people!
I'm new to the site - can anyone tell me where I might find info on local services? Specifically I'm trying to find out more about the hospitals (we have private health insurance but I heard St Vincent's doesn't do births? I hope that's not true because a friend of mine just had a TERRIBLE experience at Bathurst Base) and if there are any doulas in the area.
Hiya
From the pamphlet i have read i believe you give birth at bathurst base and then can be transferred to st Vincents.
I had my little man in January at the base and they were wonderful. I believe there is a doula in orange?
Glad to see there is another bathurst mum:thumbsup:

Yeah if you read all of this thread you will see that one of the girls from orange is a doula. The base is the only hosp that delivers than you have to get moved to the private. All hospitals have horror stories ive heard quite a few about the private too.
I had my baby in november and we were at the base for 17 days before we could bring him home and dont have any thing negative to say on the hospital and all of the midwives were just so lovely and supportive. ( all though i did get the ****s with the 3 peads the registrer and a intern pead and up them all beacause they were making me wait another day before i could take him home, but that is more of a medical issue, lack of sleep and hormones.)
We have pythons and deadly snakes too.
Wires is good if you stay out of all the BS and dont listen to every one as they all think they know it all but most of them know nothing.
Ohhh Decbub
We start our New mothers thing next week, cant wait.
