My daughter is fantastic at going to sleep by herself but I have only had about 10 nights in the past year where she will sleep through most of the night. She often wakes at around 12:30 and then screams (not cries) for 20 mins or so and then falls back asleep but usually for only and hour and then the whole thing repeats itself hourly until morning. We have tried everything!!! She does not get a bottle and we don't usually go in anymore as it doesnt help, she doesn't want to be held and if you can calm her down she won't let you sit down and cuddle her, (I am NOt standing up all night!) She has started chucking tantrums in the middle of the night and there is not much we can do.
I sleep with earplugs in because after a year of sleepless nights I have just given up.
But she does wake the neighbours baby so it is a problem.

Since she is able to normally settle herself , does anyone think it could be some sort of food allergy. She has been eating the same things for 6months. I just am so desparate for some sort of sollution.
Any help welcome

Luka sounds quite similar, he goes down to sleep easily, but then will wake at around 11.30, then 2.30, 3.30 etc... and he doesn't want to be fed or cuddled, he wants to be asleep. I finally worked out that he was waking and couldn't find his dummy, so couldn't get back to sleep, and when I got up to give it to him that disturbed him even further.

So he now sleeps with 5 dummies in his cot . And for the past few nights, he has slept through 'till 4.30, I feed him, goes back to sleep 'till 6.30ish.

He still wakes up, we hear him 'cause he's in our room, and we hear him sucking furiously on his dummy before self settling.

After 10 months of broken sleep, 4.30am is bliss :D .

Does your wee one have a dummy?

Hey Robbie.
Have you thought about taking your daughter to see a chiropractor? During birth, both the baby and the Mum go through a fair bit of a battering so bodies can get a bit twisted etc. Maybe she could do with a little bit of an alignment. And don't worry, there is no pain involved; no cracking of bones or anything sinister!

I took DS when he was about 5 months and it was great. A friend of ours also took their daughter at 9 months after she was screaming every night and nobody could tell what was wrong. She slept so much better after that.

It certainly can't hurt anyway. Good luck with it all.
