I've heard that about the MAM bottles too...
I use Grow Baby bottles - they're brilliant, cheap and BPA free. They also fit various teats like NUK, Pigeon and others.

Can be microwaved (I just microwave the water to heat), put in the dishwasher and use in any steriliser. The nalso fit the Avent bottle warmer if you have one.

I bought mine from Baby Bunting in Melbourne and they're only $5 for the large ones.

Good luck!

I use Happy Baby ones now. I don't know if they have BPA in them but as I don't warm my bottles I'm not concerned about it. We use cooled boiled water to make the bottles up & my son drinks them at room temperature. I don't micro sterilize either.

We have the MAM BPA free ulti vent and have only had one problem with leaking because DP didn't put the seal in the bottom properly but other than that have had absolutely no problems with them...

Hi,

I have the Mam bottles too. I've rarely had problems with leaking, only if I haven't assembled properly which is rare. I know that when i put the bottle in water to warm up or cool down, a whole bunch of water comes out of the base when I shake it. But the box does say just to wipe that up, it's just the external water getting trapped in the side of the base, not water coming from inside the bottle.

I've tried so many bottles and these in the end have worked the best out of the bpa free. I've got the Green to Grow bottles as well, easier to use, but the slow teat still runs too fast for my 2 month old. I've also tried the glass bottles (too heavy), DS has the cheap bpa bottles that are going round for his chocky milk but wouldn't be good for DD who is colicky/refluxy and I've also tried the Nuby BPA free which are like the Tomme Tippee Closer to Nature but DD doesn't like the teat.

Good luck.

I use the NUK wide neck bottles. Never had a problem with them. I started off using Avent and had leaking problems too. I don't sterilize in the microwave, and bub prefers her bottles at room temp, so I don't have to worry about the BPA so much. Though I contacted NUK and was assured that their wide neck bottles are BPA free.

My baby only takes the Pigeon wide neck, I tried almost all of the others, as far as I remember i tried AVENT, Tomee Tippee close to nature, nuk standard and wide neck, MAM, normal standard old style ones, Nuborn and Evie only takes Pigeon, but I'm very happy with them, I have never had leaking problems or flat teat...

I originally started out with the Avent bottles but returned them (unopened) before DS was born (I had heard about BPA).

I then purchased MAM bottles, which I found to be great apart from the occasional leaking. They also take a lot of time to wash/sterilize/dry (I dry parts with paper towels) due to the number of parts for each bottle.

Last week I went out and purchased six Avent bottles and an Avent sterilizer as I was staying with my mum and it was just taking too long to do the MAM bottles each day. My DS didn't like the Avent teats so I put size 2 MAM teats on the Avent bottles (which fit no problem).

When I prepare the Avent bottles, I use cooled boiled water and only warm the bottles (before adding formula) for a few seconds. During summer I will leave the bottles at room temperature and just add the formula as needed.

Avent bottles seal with a moisture lock and if they are on too tight, they leak.
