View Full Version : Floss
What age do you think I should start flossing DD's teeth?? She's 16 months and has watched me and Dh doing it and now she cries to have a piece of floss to do hers with. I give it to her and she does do it quite well!:D Is this ok? It won't do any harm will it?? Do any of you floss your kiddies teeth??

My daughter has seen a paediatric dentist (due to issues surrounding her cleft lip) since she was born, and out of all the huge amounts of advice they've given us, we've never been told to floss her teeth. They've never told us not to, so I can't see how it would be dangerous or anything like that... Sounds like a real cutie, make sure you take photo's of her doing it!!!

it won't hurt their teeth. if their teeth are quite close together it is actually a good idea. they don't really need to floss if they have spaces or gaps between their teeth. i say if they want to let them. at least they aren't complaining that i don't want to brush my teeth. if you can get them to delevop a good dental routine while they are young hopefully you won't need to fork out thousands of $$$$ for their dental work in the future.
but i would supervise her very closely until she is about 10 years old though. i wouldn't let her do it without you watching. you could take her with you next time you go to the dentist and ask them about it too.
:hugs: what a fantastic thing!!!! I hate flossing!!!
I'd certainly let her do it... just check at your next appointment... but I imagine it is doing the world of good for her gums!!
