Hello...My ds in the last 2 weeks has been straining to do a poo...The poor darling, his eyes well up and lies on the floor groaning until its all over...Sometimes he will have a big poo at the end of it sometimes just a bit.....Its not pellets which I know isnt a good thing...I thought now he was eating lots of vegies and fruit this wouldnt happen.....Any Ideas...?

the only thing I thought of was a big plate of pears  works a treat for my DS
I dont think the nurses worry about it unless they are straining for a REALLY long time (longer than 10 minutes kinda thing) - otherwise they just consider it normal...
good luck!

Since Amelia's been on solids she strains...it's not pellets so she's not constipated, I think it's just that now they have to work a bit more for a result IYKWIM.

My DS does this too.
Thats why you need to introduce solids slowly, so their body can adjust. Make sure what your feeding him is a vairety of things, so it's not just all food that can clogg him up.
For example, we found that oats clogged him up ( not constipated) and he found it difficult to poo. So we will only give him oats once or twice a week, so his body can adjust to it. The other mornings we give weetbix.
I didn't know about the 10 minute rule by the nurses. But it is reassuring to know that other bubs the same age are struggling when starting solids too. *phew* it's normal.

elise is still pretty much only breast fed and she 'strains' to poo. its normal because i asure you her poos are no where near the 'pallet' stage :o I also read in one of those info sheets for babies that it may seem like they are really straining but in reality they really arnt  (((insert shrugging icont here  )))

Thanks girls....:)
It sounds like its a normal thing for them to go thru...I dont feel as bad now sitting and watching him strain....
:fingerscrossed: that our bubs dont have to put up with for too much longer .....
