Hello everyone!
I am looking for a recipe for a black forest cherry cake/torte. (authentic German recipe if possible) I have tried the one from the Cheesecake shop, but im not really a fan and was wondering if anybody had an actual German recipe.
I also need a recipe for MBS - tried to make it off the top of my head (from what I could remember) but it was too rice bubbly and not enough Mars Bars in it, I think.
Any suggestions? :)

I'm not a cook so don't go expecting a recipe (that will work ...) from me. Felt the need to support you in your search for black forest cake, though ... YUM.

I always go to Taste.com.au first: This looks YUMMY!

Thanks Jaq! I see that Kirsch is the liqueur needed, i thought it was brandy...
This site looks great, hadnt heard of it before.
Thankyou for the MBS ingredients Zada ( I love Mars Bars! :D)

thanks Cath82 for posting this question.

I'm making (attempting) one for my DH's birthday next week- it's his favorite cake and I was hunting for a recipe. I usually buy one, but since I'm a SAHM and now have the time I thought I'd give it a go. :chef:

Thanks to Jaq for the site - I hadn't heard of it either.

This might sound like a silly/dumb question, but a lot of recipes (specifically slices) use cooking chocolate. I have never cooked too many slices, but if I used cadbury dairy milk chocolate instead of cooking chocolate on the top of the MBS, can you do that? Will it burn? :o(I love Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate :D)

Just a quick tip for you..........as far as I know you can't buy Kirsch liquer anymore, unless your local bottleshop has a bottle in stock still, I don't think they are making it anymore.

So whenever I've needed it I have used a cherry brandy or a cherry liquer, as this gives a similar result in black forest cake.
