I know there a few out there who love a good ring sling, so I thought I'd show you this.
I've just purchased one from her. They seem very similar to any other type of ring-sling out there...it's just that they're so much cheaper! (The cheapest I found online was close to $70...this one is $30 plus postage of $5).
You can use these from birth until bub is 16kg...so for $35 (incl. postage) I'm sure they're a pretty good investment. You can also choose your fabric (from either striped patterns to plain colours).
Just thought I'd let you know.
I have been looking for a ring sling. That is a very good price. Is it a good type of material?
Thanks.

It is a pretty good fabric...very thick...and they're stitched up several times to make sure they won't break.
I've managed to carry around my 12kg daughter in them without any dramas (she even fell asleep in it the other day)...so I think that's pretty good (they go up to around 16kg I think).
It's pretty easy to get on and off...and pretty comfy too (well, you can never be 100% comfortable when carrying around a 12kg baby...but it was much more comfortable than putting that weight on my ARMS...and my back didn't hurt either...).
I purchased one from Chickadee a few mths back and I swear I have used it EVERYDAY! For $35 inc postage, it's an absolute bargain!
DD2 is 10 mths and loves to sit facing forward with her legs crossed. We walk to and from school for DD1, 20 mins both ways, and it's really comfortable.
It also takes the weight off of my hip when i hold her there.
I'm desperately waiting for her to be big enough to put her in the back position!

I bought the pouch sling from this lady last week, it is fab.
And to boot I picked expresspost, paid by paypal at lunch time and had my sling 24 hrs later.
I think I might have to get me one of these. I've had my eye on them, but the price deterred me (get what you pay for etc)
But on recommendations, I might bite the bullet!! :D

wonderful i have to get me one of those. my bubs really hates the baby pouch/carrier i have as she can't wriggle around. maybe she can wriggle better in the sling.
Ooh, thanks for that. I have seen her slings on ebay, but I wasn't too sure if they were good quality. But for that price, I will definitely get one.
Thanks for the recommendation.
I just bought one!! I got a ring sling which costs $34.95, and I paid for express post. Hopefully I will receive it on Friday. I can't wait to use it. I will post back here again to let you know what I think.

Has anyone tried one of these - I can't decide between this one and the Chickadee one.

Hey!
Checked out the link to the Jaz-sling (whatever it's called) and it looks good!
The thing that I DID notice though, was that you have to a size 12-14 to wear it...which doesn't leave much room for losing/gaining weight. I think that's the major difference between the ring sling and the jaz sling...the ring sling can be worn up to about a size 20 (and any size under that)...because it's adjustable. I think that being able to adjust it could potentially make it easier to wear (in case it feels a little tight/loose depending on the postion your bub is in.
Just thought I'd point that out. Good luck with your choice!
One thing that's deterred me from the slings that come in sizes is that my husband and I are different shapes and sizes (he's much smaller than me) So I'd prefer one that can be adjusted.
Just something to consider :)

There is a pouch type sling (al la Jazsling) that apparently has zippers which makes it adjustable.
Made by this manufacturer

Bit pricey though once you take into account that shipping from the US is the same as the cost of the sling:eek: put me off anyway.
My DH won't wear a sling, he saw me with DD in mine and called me a bedouin tent dweller hippie person.
If anyone is really interested in the ring sling Maya Wrap there are some Australian distributors. There is that I have heard of when I was doing some research on Hugabub (which I absolutely love).

I received my Chickadee sling this afternoon. Very fast service from her. I wish she had other products too besides slings.
Question: With the ring sling what do you do with the long bit at the front that hangs down? Do you just leave it hanging? Does it get in the way?

You CAN let it hang down, or you can fold it up and tuck it into the sling or whatever.
It would depend on how big you are (I'm at the larger end of the scale)...if you're smaller, you'll have more fabric hanging than if you're bigger. I don't find the fabric to be a problem...it's not so long that I can step on it or anything. I usually just tuck it up or if DD falls asleep and we're outside, I'll put it over her head so she doesn't get sunburnt.
