I'm just wondering what bottles and teats you have found to work the best for your bub, and which formula you use?

Also, why do you use that formula...is it for price of for quality?

I use Karicare Gold (Number 2 because DD is nearly 10 months) and use wide-neck Pidgeon bottles with peristaltic teats.

DD drinks a lot, so I can fit more milk into them. The teats were also recommended to me, and I find that they work reasonably well (except that if bub sucks too hard they get squished, which is irritating).

I use Karicare Gold because, again, it was recommended to me by a friend that works at a pharmacy. She said that the pharmacist told her it was the best...but I'm not actually sure if it is.

Hello i use avent bottles and teats as i tried other brands and found avent to be the best.I used karicare gold when he was first put onto formula, but he was only on it for one day as it was quite clear he had a allergy to the cows milk.I was then told by my doctor to put him on karicare goat formula, and have never had a problem since hes 11 months now.But since putting him onto goat formula i have had quite a few doctors say that goats milk is better for babies as its very similar to breast milk and i have to agree as ive talked to other mothers who seem to be having trouble with constipation with there babies, and bryce has never been constipated. They say now i could try and put him back onto normal formula but i wont he will stay on goats till hes two,but karicare are the only ones that make goats formula and it is the most dearest of all the formula at the moment im paying 27.95 a tin it just had a price rise last week. But i will stick with it as i think its wonerfull and bryce loves it.

I mostly use cheap bottles with better teats. I use the Happy Baby cross cuts and they have worked fine with both DDs. I also have a couple of the mag mag cups with pigeon teats, but find DD2 has a little trouble switching between the normal and wide teats....but she manages.

I use the normal s26 formula, and its been fine. Thats what they used at the hospital, so thats what i kept up with. Bubs were both a bit constipated when they first started it, but after 2-3 days were fine, so i figured, why change?

I love the Pigeon bottles and teats. They are the only ones my DD would have after weaning off the breast.
The only formula she would drink was Heinz! Anything else she'd vomit up or just plain out refuse to drink, but for some reason she just liked that one.

Liss O5 you can get the Goats Milk formula for $22 from OZE Pharmacy. They are online too.

I like the Happy Baby bottles and Pur teats ( not cross cut).

I'm not sure about formula, we're still working on that one. But the best one we've used so far has been goats formula and lactose free.

For bottles I have always used Tommee Tippee one, for all 3 kids, plus I use the Tommee Tippee teats.

As for formula, we have just started using Heinz and we are happy with it so far.

I use the heinz and avent as well. I heard s26 and Karicare may be GM.

Also Heinz is made in NZ - nice clean country!!

I am weaning my bub he is 5months. Have only tried Heinz and it seems fine, I bought it as the cheapest around $11 tin.

He won't take a bottle but he will take a cup with a spout with one hole, founds some cups he will take for $1 each at a cheap shop, they go in the dishwasher and sterilise fine, not as good as the tommee tippee cup or another one I have but they are hard to find nowhere stocks them but one chemist who have run out.

All the bottles and teats I tried were a waste of time for me

Avent and S26 for us.

I had S26 when I was a baby and recognised the tims from around Mums craft room so figured if it had been on the market that long, it must be OK.

I chose Avent bottles because I had heard theyb were fairly easy for the breastfed baby to switch to.

All worked out fine for us!

when jazz started on formula i went and bought 6 avent bottles and teats thinking that they were the best because they were the dearest and we had so much trouble with them. she stopped drinking and i couldnt work out why so i took her to see the chn and she found a lesion on the roof of her mouth. so i went out and got a heap of tommee tippee bottles and cheap teats and they were much softer on her mouth. i actually tried her on the avent bottle again a couple of months ago and the same thing happened again. we also used karicare formula but she is having mostly cows milk now.

I use Avent bottles and teats - they are the only ones that my local pharmacy sells and they seem fine for us.

As far as formula goes, I have found Nan 1HA Gold to be the best for DS. We started him off on S26 Gold as that was what they used in the hospital but after a few nights of exorcist style :barf: the CHN recommended Nan and he's been great on that. Have thought about changing to something cheaper, but I figure if this one works, best to just stick with it.

We use tommee tippee cross cut inverted no spill teats with whatever cheapo bottle is available. When we started on bottles DD couldn't understand why she was getting milk in her mouth without sucking, with the no spill she had to suck to get milk, just like mum.
We use Heinz formula reccommended by other mums. but the newborn one as the 6 month plus gave my dd the runs.

I started Lukey off on S26 Gold 1 with Pigeon Peristaltic Teats and bottles, they were great whilst i was the one holding the bottle....fast forward a few months and we had a lazy but independant baby who hated holding the wider bottle so we changed to slim bottles, Pur ones, then i bought a tommee tippee split bottle and he gripes that with one hand lol so he thinks he is very clever and now only wants that bottle:banghead: do you think i can find them in my country town?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :banghead: hehehe MEN!!
Edited to add- Now on Heinz 2 Formula

With all 3 of mine I have found that using Avent bottles worked best, though I have just bought some Heinz bottles (they were on offer), any they seem to be great for my independant son as they have a triangular shape to them and they also hold more milk (270mls).

As for formula, If you are planning to travel round the world, I would recommend using S26 as this is widely advalible (in the UK and US its known as SMA), but for my youngest we have been using a mixture of heinz and Guardian chemists own as standards are very dtrick on baby milk production!

Hi there,

My bub has LOVED the Pigeon peristaltic nipples. She couldn't get the hang of the Avent ones which were a bit more firm. She could chop and change between the pigeon ones and breastfeeding without any problems at all.

Trouble was that I bought just one of the pigeon 'oral development nipple' for 4+ months. She loved that but it has now gone out of circulation (believe me - I have tried EVERYWHERE and have even spoken to the people who used to import them from Japan). I can't buy one over the internet either. I am sure that one of these days we are going to finally destroy the one we have and I don't know what we'll do!! In the meantime, :fingerscrossed: that it stays in one piece until I can get her onto a cup or another brand.

Good luck to you all.

I tried all the teats and bottles there was and the only ones DS would take at 3 months was the NUK teats. I also just brought a whole heap of cheap bottles (i think it cost me $6 for 6 bottles and put NUK teats in them. The NUK ones were great till he got hungrier and i found the hole wasnt big enough in the "milk" ones and the holes in the larger NUK ones "Cereal teats" were too big..so we then tried the PUR teats (shaped like the NUK ones) I have found them great, they are faster flowing which is good when you have a fussy drinker!

We started off on S-26 alpha gold but DS got constipated. We then tried the alpha pro because we thought because it was the most expensive it was best...it didnt fill him up, he was feeding all the time. I was then directed to SMA forumla which is supposebly for "hungry babies" and it has been GREAT!

Fave...

BOTTLES: Avent all the way - love that they fit all the other Avent "bits". Also have two cheap bottles from Coles that rock - my emergency bottles - $3 for 2 of them!

TEATS: At 10 months DS is on the Avent green sippy cup teats, but really like the Avent variable flow ones - got a lot of use out of them.

FORMULA: Karicare plain. No probs with it at all, and quite economical compared the the gold versions. Pale blue lid one to 6 months, then on the follow-on dark blue lid one now.

Good thread BTW.
