I have been considering getting a lightshow type thing for my DD in a last-ditch effort to get her to try to put herself to sleep. I have heard many wonderful things about these & know that she would just find it absolutely fascinating!

I have looked at the Tomy one (Tomy Starlight Dreamshow?) but the only issue I have with it, is that it only runs for up to 10 mins. Not long enough by a long shot! DD's mobile runs for 15 mins & I wish it could go at least double that!!

Does anyone know of a similar product that can be set to run for longer than 10 mins? If so, do you know approx how much it costs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

 I use glow sticks.
I have found they're great for encouraging my kids to go to bed.
Kiana loves to lie there and look at them on the wall.
PM me your address and I can send you some if you want to try them.

My son has the fisher price flutterbuys its so cute and yes it does go for a good amount of time and it projects a huge part of the ceiling and the music and birds chirping is great. My friend has the tomy one but mine is better by far.;)

I have the tomy one also and it was great - although I agree about it only lasting 10 minutes - it just wasn't long enough!

I don't know if they are still available, but I got a Fisher Price musical mobile off ebay secondhand which has lights that flash in the centre. It has a timer on it so will play music, spin around and flash lights on and off for a while and then stop. BUT it has a remote! I just hung it on the doorknob and if bubs was still awake when it stopped, I slipped it inside the door and pressed the button to start it up again. It is fantastic because you don't have to disturb bub to get it going again.

Thanks for all the replies!! :D

It's great to know there are some other great products & ideas out there. I'm definitely going to keep a look out now for these things!

Hi Fi

Seth has the TOMY light show and he LOVES it. I thought at first that 10mins wouldn't be long enough, but it was for him. It might have helped that he was used to putting himself to sleep just looking at his wooden mobile (it's not mechanical) or in complete darkness.

Now, sometimes, he's still awake after it finishes but he just lays there talking to himself, or maybe he's trying to talk the bears into coming back

Hope you find something that works for the Princess :p
