View Full Version : Sunnie Coast Mum's Night Out

I just saw the thread where the Gold Coast mums are organising a girl's night out without the kids & I thought man, that sounds like fun!! Would anyone be interested if we looked at organising something similar up here at some point in the future?
Do we feel confident enough placing the care of our darling littlies in the hands of our Significant Others/parents/neighbour/baby-sitter for an evening?
Can the PG mummies get up the energy for a night out?! (I know I would have struggled a bit!!)
Nothing fancy, I'm afraid my exciting clubbing days are now many, many years behind me!! (Even CBX frightens me a little! ) Just dinner somewhere nice & then maybe a drink or three at the RSL perhaps?
Whaddya say?!

OK, so when's good for everyone?
Should we start looking at dates during the week or on weekends??
Maybe mid week we can get some dinner special  I don't mind Fiona perhaps give a couple of choices and vote on it?
I have only just joined Bub Hub and discovered this Sunny Coast thread. I'd love to be part of a girls night out! My social life has been sooo sad since I moved up here - don't know anyone else with children (as most of the people I meet are uni students in class!). I'm open to just about any time. Im from Caloundra

i'll start a list if anyone interested in dinner wants to pm me their name & suburb then we can work out a central place so we all dont have too far to travel :)

Hi MummyT!! Welcome to bubhub!!! (Warning, it's VERY addictive!!) There's lots of us in & around Caloundra! (Including me!!)
Are you free this Friday?? A bunch of us are getting together at my place. I'll PM you all the details & if you can make it great, & if not, no pressure!
Melbee, PM heading your way! Thanks for volunteering to organise that, what a great idea getting suburbs of interested parties!!

thats ok mrs miggins - just thought it would be easier to find out where we all are & then i can search for suitable places & we can all decide where to eat, date etc

Well, depending on where everyone is & how far they're willing to travel, the Caloundra RSL does a pretty good meal at a reasonable price & we wouldn't have to go elsewhere if we wanted to stay and have a drink or 3 afterwards??
Or do we want to look for something a bit more upmarket, considering we'll be having a "freedom" night?!
MrsMiggins
02-06-2006, 21:52
Oh, and I forgot to mention I daresay StormT will be in on it. I can check with her next time I see her, but she doesn't get on bubhub much these days.

02-06-2006, 22:37
ok cool - let me know about storm
also have to work out when is a good night for everyone
so far there are 4 from buderim/sippy downs area - 3 from calounda & 2 from further away
caloundra rsl is good so is chancellor park tavern
when i get a definate list i will put it to everyone as to what area & places the majority want to eat it :chef:
Hi Mel,
Caloundra RSL sounds good to me it's only about a 25 minute drive so would be happy with that.
Cheers,
Mel.
Caloundra RSL is good idea - close to home for me!

Im not fussed on where i go, but the chancellor taven have the best meals, not to badly priced and they are huge!!!
Sizzler might be an idea or even a surf club. The only thing we may have to remember with the clubs like the RSLs and surf clubs is that not everyone will be members and might get turned away. Dosent that make you mad?? :banghead:

Actually, that reminds me, I have to renew my membership for the RSL! We just haven't been there in so long, since the day before Claire was born actually, that I just forget about it!
Members can sign in any number of guests though, so it shouldn't be a problem.
If we do end up going to the Caloundra RSL, I don't mind signing you all in.... so long as you don't all get drunk & trash the place!

  can't remember what drunk is like, probably only take two glasses

so far the most people have suggested the caloundra rsl with fiona signing all our intoxicated bodies in!!!
maybe next time we can go to chancellor park tavern
now we need to decide what nights suit most people - im easy it doesnt matter much as my parents are in the next street to babysit & if it is a weekend eliana's dad might be here to do it
I'm free just about any night I think, except the weekend of the 23/24 as I'm headed to Gold Coast on 23rd (for dinner out with newly pregnant friend who is moving OS in few weeks) and wedding in Brissy on 24th. Zac's Dad is generally fine to have him any night or his beautiful family day carer generally as other kids every other night so doesn't mind adding another to the brood!

Yeah, I'm good any night (I have no life!!) Dave can take on Mr Mum duty for the night! I'm sure he'll be fine now that I've finally got her into a good bedtime routine!! (I just hope he doesn't stuff it all up!! )
I'm happy to sign in drunkards!!! Ten bucks says I'll end up the biggest drunken idiot there anyway!!!

Im free any pretty much anynight for the next couple of weeks. Can we make it before school holidays ( the 23rd I think they start) as we are going to the snow for 2 weeks.
If not then I will have to wait for the next mums night out
justtwogirls22
06-06-2006, 21:33
we spoke at coffee this morning about dinner & it seems saturday night works better
now we just need to decide which saturday night (hopefully we can do it before the school holidays)
so that leaves this saturday 10th or saturday 17th
what suits you best?
MrsMiggins
06-06-2006, 22:47
The 17th would be better for me. Hopefully I will have a payday under my belt by then!!
Saturday 17th suits me best too!
Hi,
Saturday the 10th is best for me I have something on the 17th.

sorry i didnt get back & post in here earlier but i guess everyone worked out that it was going to be the 17th by majority - i unfortunately wont be able to go as i have to go to brisbane - so for those still interested have a great time & i will get to the next one!
MrsMiggins
12-06-2006, 20:57
I've just had a quick look back through the last couple of pages, and I think that leaves only the 3 of us (3KIDSMUM, mummyT & myself) available on the 17th.
Do you still want to do something, or would you rather have it another night when more are able to attend?
Sorry I can't make the 17th. Ty's Daddy is already looking after him in the afternoon when I go out so he couldn't cope with the night-time as well.

Maybe we should organise something for in about a months time when we should all have a free spot in the calander. It would be nice if at least 5-8 of us can get there. I dont mind waiting. We have to do it on a night melbee can come seen she has done most of the organising.
Organising stuff for all us mums is like organising hens in a hen house!!
MrsMiggins
13-06-2006, 10:39
I agree Cherie!
How about Saturday the 29th of July? That should be far enough into the future that not many people would already have something planned, but not so far away that things can fall by the wayside instead of getting organised.
What does everyone think??
Show of hands.......

GOOD STUFF!!
So the 22nd of July is looking good then!!
Although it's a bummer you can't make it AliA! Hope you have fun in Sydney (I've been trying to get down there to visit my grandparents for months now!! So you're a better man than I, Charlie Brown!) We'll have a few drinks on your behalf....... OK, I'll have a few drinks on your behalf!
ElizaDee, I know how you are feeling!! But hopefully once you finish up work, you'll feel a renewed sense of energy! I know I sure did! I know I won't be the only one who hopes you will be able to make it!
Welcome to Aus, crystal3! And you couldn't have picked a better place to live!! We're a pretty friendly bunch here on the Sunny Coast. Most of us are pretty harmless!
So are we all still up for the Caloundra RSL??
MrsMiggins
13-07-2006, 14:04
Is this still a go-er for the 22nd?
I'm still keen, although I'll be sticking to the diet cokes & mineral waters!!
Hello Everyone
It doens't look like I will be able to make it at this stage because I am having trouble getting Ty to sleep and he is waking up lots during the night, I need to try to solve this! Also back at work this week and I am finding that it is all too much to cope with  :crying: If some miracle happens I will be there but if not would like to go to the next one, surely things will be on the upward track then.
I really miss those get togethers, hopefully sometime we can have a weekend catch up :fingerscrossed: I hardly have time to check out bubhub too!!
MrsMiggins
14-07-2006, 08:31
Oh no Deb! I totally understand. It's so hard when they go through that sleep pattern change, isn't it?! Let's just hope it's teeth or something like that as he'll calm back down to sleep as soon as they're through!
I hope your whole routine comes back into sync soon (as I'm sure it will), as it makes fitting it all in with work that much easier.
I'm up for weekend get togethers too! I'll try & organise something soon. I may be going away the weekend after next (the one of the 29th/30th) so I might try for something after then.
Did you see the walking group thread too?

20-07-2006, 14:01
Well I'd say it looks like this one has fallen by the wayside. Not many "yes-es" and it seems the majority of our Sunshine Coasters have gone AWOL! Where is everyone?! Come back!!!!! :D
I am extremely tired at the moment, so while I would dearly love a night out, I feel I'm probably better off having a big sleep instead! (Been going to bed at 8.30/9.00 most nights & I'm still buggered!! )
Maybe the Sunshine Coast forum will pick up again & we'll organise something a bit further down the track.

Oh my goodness yes!!!
I forgot all about that!!
Just let me know when is good for you. I will be away the weekend of the 29th/30th, but any other time is fine.
Hi Ladies,
Here I was feeling depressed because I was going to miss out on tomorrow night.:crying:
Hope we can have a get together soon, nice to see how everyone is going and how much everyone's bubs have grown.
:)
