View Full Version : Click Click Click
Nugget clicks.
Like her mummy when she gets up and her knees click because she was a clumsy child and her knees just weren't made for the constant falling over that she did (and still does)
But sometimes, at least a few times a day, as Nugget swims around in her pool of amniotic fluid I'll hear a click! Yesterday Puk heard it!! (it's that loud!)
I'm not fussed by this because it doesn't concern me that she's clicking and I've googled a bit, from what I've read is that it's not a common occurrence, however not one for alarm.. so I thought I'd ask..
Who has or had a little one in their tum that clicks away?

Yep, my little man clicked in my tummy!
When he was a newbie, he would suck on his lip, and when he let it go, it would make the 'click' noise... so I am assuming thats what the noise was all along. (He even had a 'sucking blister' on his poor lil' lip when he was born!)
That's interesting!
I often feel her "kneading" down low, (like a cat kneading a bed or something) a midwife suggested that I may be incubating a thumb-sucker and that's her head and elbows getting a thumb to the mouth and moving around - I might see if there's a correlation between that feeling and the click. :)

Yup, Claire "clicked" too! It freaked me out once or twice (see, I was a stress cadet too!).
I'm don't think it could be the suction of pulling a thumb out of a mouth though - I thought you needed air to create a vacuum, and there's no air in the womb because its all water! I'm not sure though, I could be wrong.
that's a good point Tami!
Chris was trying to tell me that it was impossible for Baby's to hiccup in utero because of the lack of air.. but the vaccuum argument is different entirely!
Apparently it's not well documented, if at all, so just for fun I'm going to tell the midwife today :p

Yep, in the last week, Ollie started making clicking sounds too! When he was born he used to suck on his lip and click. Its stopped now though. :)
Yep....and even now I hear her ligaments clicking sooo loud shes a real thumb sucker too born with a huge blood blister on her lip from sucking so much...nothing has changed lol
hey Mouse - did you feel a 'kneading' sensation with Eliza? do you know what I mean? like right down the bottom of the belly, very much pushing gently.. like when you're trying to fluff a pillow.
I did it was her doing some kinda head spinning break dance I think lol trying to dig her way out:rolleyes:

Lol....Im deffinately not a dr...but i wish my DD was in HIS tummy!....she hiccuped every day without fail...and everynight RIGHT when i went to bed...it used to keep me up all the time...and i have no doubt in my mind that it was hiccups...everyone could see her bounce, and i could feel it!...she was actually a very hiccuppy baby when she was born too...its funny, being no air and all...i wonder what actually happens?...one day, they'll be able to see right in there some how and find all these things out

No, cause hiccups aren't actually about air - some experts think that its because they swallow amniotic fluid and their oesophagus (?sp) reacts, others think that its cause their diagphrams are exercising so they'll fully function when they're born.
Tell Chris he's wrong for me! :p DD had hiccups everyday for about the last month!

I had a great debate with him over it, trying to explain that the sound might be different but it's still the diaphram spasming. I ended up having to google and find pages for him..
This was all AFTER he lay there with his hand on my tummy feeling her rhythmical, teeny movements - ie: hiccups
