Well as some of you know,I was one week overdue and booked in to be induced on Monday 8th May. Well from about 4am Monday morning i started getting niggly little pains. Coming and going,nothing regular. had to be at the hospital at 8am so i just rode it out til then. Got in there and was taken round to the delivery suite to get hooked up to the monitors for a 1/2 hour trace. Ob was supposed to be meeting us there. At 9am he still wasnt there so they started chasing him up. Anyway turns out he forgot about me but we had the midwife administer the Prostin Gel at around 11am. Bub was not quite facing the way it needed to be and needed to drop down a little more. But cervix was favourable. After another trace to check bub the midwife told us to walk around as much as possible and use the stairs. so we had lunch and walked and walked and walked. Used the stairs. The next time she checked bub had turned and dropped so we were very happy. 4pm that afternoon done an internal and i was only 2cm dilated so Ob was coming to check on me when he finished in his rooms for the day. I decided on a bath and lost my mucous plug just before getting in.At 6:30pm the classified labour as starting.This is when i got the gas.He decided,If we wanted to he would just break my waters to speed it up a little. so at 8 he done that. Well things did get a hell of a lot more painful. At around 10:45 i went for the shower,then change of midwives again(third for the day) and she suggested the pethidiene shot...well i decided that maybe i wasnt totally against it at all as it wasnt bad enough for an epidural but the gas was losing touch. so i decided as long as i stayed on my feet i'd be ok. She done an internal and i was only 4 cm:eek: all that pain for 2 more cm!! So i started wondering just how bad it was gunna get. Had the peth at 11:30 and started to relax between the contractions. I kept the gas as well but the pain was fairly constant. Then all of a sudden i got the urge to do a poo. And OMG i've never felt such a strong urge to poo!! So got on the bed and on all fours,with a bean bag in front of me. This was good. Then midwife decides its time to call Ob back. So off she goes,only to come back to tell us that there is a problem with the phone lines and they cant call out!!:eek: So the Ob was called off our phone and got there,stood to the side and watched me push through one contraction then took over.I pushed a few times,then decided i couldnt do it. Didnt get agressive just told them all i had done enough and i couldnt do anymore!! The Ob told me i could and to look down. I looked down and could see my baby's head so i decided ok i can do this.they told me to push when i got my next contraction and all of a sudden i saw my baby coming towards me. They told us it was a boy. which daddy knew as he was down there for the whole thing. He was placed on my chest and the rest is history. Blake was born at 1:25 am on Tuesday 9th May. He escaped just a few hours before the Miners!! And he was such a good boy for mummy. All i got was a few grazes. I had a little problem with excessive bleeding. Had to have a second shot of synto. But other than that i was up walking around,showered and ready for visitors within an hour.
