Can anyone give me some advice about this hospital? My doctor has me booked in there for our birth because I really didn't have any idea!! Any advice would be appreciated - we're going public
I haven't been there personally, but my sister had my neice there and she said it was fantastic.. This was 7 years ago. So i'm not much help am I? I think it has just had some major works to it, as I was looking at having my DS there but I stayed up north instead.
Have you gone for a tour yet? They should be able to provide all the information you need and answer your questions!
Good luck with it all! :)

I had my DD there last December. The midwives do a tour which is part of the antenatal classes and is well worth doing.
I found the hospital to be great , and even though I now have insurance will probably go back when it is time for bubs2. The midwives were great (I only met one grumpy midwife out of about 12), and I got a double room to myself. They only double up if they are full, and at max its only 2 sharing and all ensuite. Having said that my one complaint was the size/comfort of the room (the chair gave me terrible backache!). Everything was free, including clothes/nappies for baby. Its fairly small, and I was lucky in that it was a quiet few nights so the midwives happily looked after my DD on the second night for a few hours so that I could get some sleep.
I stayed in for 2 nights and then got home visits from the midwives for 3 days. Phoned them once during this time and they were really helpful.
For prenatal care they were good...sometimes a bit of a wait in to see the GP but the midwives were always on time (you alternate between seeing the GP and the midwife). Wasn't impressed with the scan though, did the first trimester screening at SJOG Murdoch and that was much better...
Hope this helps some.
Swapping stories with the other mums in my baby group who went private, Armadale seemed to offer a better service, I dont feel that I missed out at all.
Good luck

I didn't have my kids there, but I've heard some pretty good stories about them from people I know.
Have a search through some of the old threads, I am almost certain there was a post about AKMH!
