Hi girls

I am 23 weeks with my first baby - due in March. I am based in Mandurah and giving birth at the Peel Health Campus.

I am 25 and have just moved to australia and do not know any-one here so would really like to have a support person to be with during labour and birth.

My mother is a naturopath and we have all been bought up with alternative medicine and I have never been to a Dr or a hospital before so it is pretty terrifying - especially as I don't agree with many of the things they do during birth and delivery - like cutting the cord straight away and centosin injection rather than delivering the placenta naturally etc and I need some-one to help me voice what I want and be some support for me with breathing and massage etc so I don't end up with the Dr's taking all the control away from me. I am well educated (BSc in Biomed and MSc in pharmaceutical science) as well as working as a research scientist for the past 4 years and reading up on Sarah Buckley articles so I know for a fact that many of what the Dr's do affects the mother and baby adversely.

Anyway, enough rambling - is any-one interested in attending the labour and birth for their studies? also welcome to attend any antenatal appointments I have etc. It will have to be free or a reduced rate as we cannot afford to pay a huge amount to hire some-one.

Let me know. I would love to have some-one there for me.

I wish I could help........ alas I am in Melbourne. I hope you find someone to walk your journey with you and wish you a beautiful, peaceful birth.

Hi, Tash.

As a doula I believe no woman should miss out on having a doula if they'd like one, least of all because of money.

I am in Canberra, so cannot help physically, but I encourage you to contact some of the doulas in and around the Perth area (I know of several, including Emma Stewart of Bissful Birth and Kristin Beckedhal of Bodywise Birthwise) and talk to them about offering you services at a reduced rate. I'll eat my computer if they say no!! :D

Hope this helps, and I wish you all the very best for a beautiful birth experience.

Jen. :hugs:
